Butterfloof (floofinition) – 1. An animal with fur the color of butter (also known as butterfur).
In use: “Everyone who saw the cat exclaimed, “What color is his fur?” To which she replied with a pleased smile, “He’s a butterfloof.” That explained it all.”
2. An animal which enjoys flitting from flower to flower.
In use: “Exploring, the puppy was a butterfloof, going about the backyard and sniffing everything that he found, pausing with each as if he was savoring new knowledge.”
3. Animals who enjoy the taste of butter.
In use: “A true butterfloof, the cat would hunt down anything that was buttered and begin consuming it. One had to be on constant guard.”
By the first definition, we’ve never had a butterfloof. We had a marmaladefloof once, and we’ve had some coalfloofs. But … by the third definition, every floof we’ve ever had has been a butterfloof! They say it is good to keep them from getting hairballs, so … sigh … I allow them to lick the butter off my English muffin. I’ve discovered, though, that they do NOT like peanut butter! Well … except for Tiger Lily … she will eat ANYTHING.

Our floofs show interest but rarely lick the butter unless I give permission.

Obviously you have done a better job at floof-training than we have! 😉

Just requires patient floofscipline, ya’ know? (I suspect it’s more because these cats are all rescues who were previously abused, and that keeps them tentative about offending anyone. Sad.)

Ours are all rescues, too, and our Miss Izzy practically lives under the sofa for being so skittish. But, we have a couple that will literally steal the food from your mouth! Yes, it is sad that people would abuse animals. Two of ours had been thrown into the dumpster at the end of our street when they weren’t more than a couple of weeks old. Just luckily my daughter heard them when she took the trash out, else they would have been crushed when the truck came along. 😥
