Flooflumph

Flooflumph (floofinition) – 1. (noun) a housepet’s movement with heavy tread. 2. (verb) (slang) a term used in reference to a clumsy housepet.

In use: “The big lab was such a flooflumph as a puppy, all paws and legs, thundering and crashing when he ran, that it was amazing to see him as a mature and majestic adult, trotting and sprinting with grace.”

  1. Or, as Grace sometimes says, deliberately misquoting Sandburg’s poem, “The fog creeps on little cat feet: thump, thump, thump. (This is why we say Ashley as “fog feet” — she’s a cat of subtle fur and unsubtle tread.)

    1. Thinking about this today as I listened to one of the cats gracefully thud across the wooden floor and realized that their pawfalls sounded like, “Flooflumph, flooflumph.” Made me think of the fog thumps – fomps. “Fomp, fomp, fomp, fomp…fomp fomp fomp!”
