Floofnesia (floofinition) – a condition where housepets forget instructions, guidance, etc.
In use: “Opening the front door, they walked in and saw their Great Dane sprawled out on the sofa. He’d clearly suffered floofnesia about not being permitted on the furniture.”
All 5 of our moggies have floofnesia! I didn’t know there was a name for it … thank you for identifying their condition. Now, I must go pick up the un-rolled toilet paper in the bathroom and run the cat out of the basket of clean laundry. 🤣

LOL – well, floofnesia has apparently been on the rise, to judge from the Floofnet’s depiction of animals behaving badly. I suspect that many floofs get on the ‘net, see these videos and read these tales, and get inspired.

I’m sure that our Boo (short for Booker T Washington) does, for one time I was in the middle of an email when I fell asleep briefly, meanwhile he finished my letter and sent the thing! My friend Jeannie wrote back to ask if I was alright! 🤣 I catch Boo walking across my keyboard any time I step away and forget to put the lid down, so I’m pretty sure he is surfing the ‘net!

One of the most common kinds of floofnesia is Forgetting Where We Left the Mousie (or Chew Toy, for dogs). Some floofs, however, manage to work around their floofnesia by always checking the same places (under the couch, behind the fridge, in the human’s shoe) when they can’t remember where they last saw their toy.
(I really, really want to make a joke here, a snarky comment patterned after some fictional person’s snarky comment about Freud and not curing amnesia, but pet-themed instead — something about ‘He couldn’t do anything about my floofnesia, but he had some interesting thoughts about my relationship with my littermates’ — except I can’t quite make it make sense for general audiences… *sigh*)

I understand your frustration. As for the floofnesia work-arounds, yes, they’re masters at developing those for finding treats and toys, aren’t they? Bet Logan is starting to get the hang of that.
