Social distancing has been around for a while. Why, The Offspring were singing ’bout it way back in the last century, circa 1994. “Come Out and Play” was partially about keepin’ separated — there’s always a reason, it’s just the logic that’s different. As they noted in their lyrics, learn from your mistakes (I’m interpreting) or you’re gonna repeat them.
It goes down the same as the thousand before
No one’s getting smarter no one’s learning the score
Your never-ending spree of death and violence, and hate
Is gonna tie your own rope, tie your own rope, tie your own
Hey man you talkin’ back to me?
Take him out
You gotta keep ’em separated
Yeah, some folk are gonna tie their own rope. (“This virus is a hoax,” “…a political stunt,” or, “Way overblown.”)
You gotta keep ’em separated.
Dating myself but The Offspring and Nirvana were the soundtrack of my misbegotten youth. Finding myself feeling overly nostalgic lately. Still love the music, though.

Never tried dating myself. I always thought that I’d suck as a date. But, I like your music choices, though, as one who is older (yeah, that’s me), I find I need to be in certain moods for Nivana and The Offspring (and Oasis). I take more easily to the Verve, Soundgarden, Bush, STP, and Pearl Jam. Of course, as a classic rocker, Led, the Stones, the Who and Pink Floyd are always welcomed.

I knew as I wrote it that I should have rephrased lol Funny enough, I have to be in the right mood for classic rock, but can always listen to Nirvana, Offspring, and other music I started listening to as a tween/teen. I guess whatever music you first connect with is always the “right” music for you.

Yeah, I think the music that is “right” for us connects us more strongly with special moments and experiences. The other, that we can enjoy when in the right mood, doesn’t have the emotional connection, but we can still appreciate it.

(Re: your last comment, which I can’t directly reply to) Exactly– well put!
