- Is anyone else using the new WordPress Editor?
- Does anyone have any particular issue with it?
- Is anyone starting to hate it as much as I am?
Well, to elaborate on the last first, you probably read that and thought, I don’t know. How much are you starting to hate it?
I expect a learning curve with any change. But when I follow the process and it doesn’t come out as expected, forcing me to begin trouble-shooting, only to discover there isn’t any trouble-shooting to do, leaving me unable to post what I want when I want to post it, then I begin to hate the application.
Like, that whole thing with blocking a paragraph to work on it is irritating. So is the inability to use MS Word commands that I’m used to having.
Yes, I’m getting old and cranky. So what’s your point.
All this leads me to my real question: how do I return to the previous editor? That’ll be this weekend’s project.
I got out of there as soon as possible. I wasn’t down with that noise.

I got out of there, too. I gave it a go, but it wasn’t to my tastes. Thanks, Ben. Cheers

I just hope they never force it on us. We just need an editor that is easy and shows exactly what we are doing.

Ben, I was thinking that this morning when I saw that little banner lurking at the bottom of the page that comes up whenever I create a post. I hope that they don’t do that to us.

That would be a disaster. They would lose a lot of bloggers if they did.

Some of what they have there seems unnecessary, but it doesn’t bother me. What bothers me in general about the Net is passwords.

I acclimated to it after a few failures . I simply copy and paste from my MS Word, which is where I do nearly all my editing for the most part. Wishing you luck…

Thanks. I went back to the old way. I found the new editor too intrusive and counter-intuitive. Cheers

Your post makes me glad I was too timid to try it.

Yes, I like to be bold in these situations, but I’m often dubious that it’ll be better. In retrospect, it’s probably a fifty/fifty result in most cases. Not in this one. After trying out the new editor, I saw nothing advantageous to using it and went back to the old one. Much happier, thanks.

I didn’t even know about it. I just write everything in Word, then copy it in. Sometimes I have to resave it without autoformatting, but I haven’t had any problems!

Strange, but I prefer writing directly in the editor, and I find the new editor intrusive. It amuses me that it claims it’s going to level up my output. My initial experiences – five attempts – it was the opposite. Maybe that’s just me.

I hate when something is supposed to be new and improved but doesn’t actually work as well as the old thing!

Yes, that seems like the modern advertising scourge to me. Everything is Newer! Bigger! Better! The Best Ever! The hyperbole has become worn ridiculously thin.

I’m not liking it and want to get back to the old one, just need to figure out how… This new thing makes writing really cumbersome as it has lots of automatic formatting that I really don’t like. What a belly flop!

I’m happy to learn I’m not alone. I discovered a button on the new editor’s panel that said revert to classic, and that’s what I did. Cheers

Found it too, thank God! 👍

Yes, yes! The new WordPress Editor just made it more difficult to create content. Why can’t I add multiple images at one time? Why is it creating a new block when I just want to start a new paragraph? Why does it say there is something wrong with the code, when I only made a minor change in HTML? I haven’t tried it in the App on a mobile device. Maybe it suppose to be easier for the mobile users.

Yes, yes, and YES! You’re probably right about it being easier for mobile user, because that’s the current tide, but it aggravated me before I dumped it and returned to the previous editor.
