Thursday’s Theme Music

Thinking of many things today, and from that morass streamed an old Tom Petty song.

Many consider “Breakdown” (1977) to be the Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers’ breakout song. It’s a mellow, reflective sound with some edges, a sweet and weary reflection of love and trying. I prefer the live version included in An American Treasure.

  1. I love your Theme music posts. But it also made me a bit sad because all of the great musicians of my generation are dying. Tom Petty, George Michael, Prince, Gregg Allman, David Bowie I could go on and on. But for now, I’ll listen to Tom and think “You don’t know how it Feels” and go about my day. 🙂

    1. Yes, many of the theme posts carry more baggage than I address. We can’t help but to put such songs into the continuum of life and loss, past and present, and change, can we?

Thanks for reading and commenting. Cheers
