years ago as a christmas present a cousin gave us a nice red and white throw blanket: took it home and spread it out on the bed. In five seconds our cat claimed it for his own. and in twelve years he has never unclaimed it. Now and then he works his way up to the pillows and the humans, peers into our faces (apparently to make sure we are not only who we claim to be but are still alive too) and then retreats to the safety of his Own Blanket. It’s kind of comforting to have him around, to let us know we’re still alive…
