Trump is more predictable than the weather.
That’s especially true in this era, when extreme weather strikes more frequently, and el Nino is bringing in new changes to the patterns.
Donald Trump’s pattern under pressure and criticism is to become more belligerent and aggressive. He rails more; whines more; and attacks more. The midterms are coming up, and prices are not coming down. Trump, who once promised no new wars, instead finds the war he started with Iran dragging on. Trump has claimed it’s over, it’s almost over, or ‘we won’ numerous times before. Now, Trump is saying the war will “probably end after the mid-terms”.
Doubts about Trump are growing and persisting. Regardless of what polls say about the elections and a midterm blue wave or Donald Trump’s declining popularity, the tells of his decline among his base are visible. Rallies where Trump is appearing are weakly attended. Trump’s calls to support AI and data centers construction are met with silence.
After all that’s gone wrong and getting worse for Donald Trump, I was unsurprised that Trump’s DOJ raided Rep. Ilhan Omar’s home in Minnesota. Rep Omar has three things going against her in Trump’s eyes: she’s an intelligent woman, a refugee from Somalia, and an outspoken Trump critic.
I guess Trump sees Rep. Omar is a good test case for Trump’s increasing tactics of lawfare and weaponizing the government against his opponents. Trump’s previous efforts to prosecute political opponents, James Comey, Letitia James, and David Hearn, flopped in big, audacious ways.
But Trump has nothing else to offer. Trump already went after the press, trying to ban press organizations who tell the truth about his sparsely attended rallies, terrible and worsening economy, and the growing disaster that is now the Iran war. Trump also dislikes being reminded that he’s breaking promises and laws, and that he is not the all-powerful, all-knowing, always-right person he likes to pretend he is.
The press fought back, and the courts have sided with the press, so far. Precedence would point to a win for the press in all the courts. Freedom of the press is one of those things we used to pride ourselves on in the United States. Donald Trump arrived on the scene, though, and weaponized people’s distrust of the press to gain popularity.
Now, with his popularity waning, even Donald Trump’s MAGA base are walking away from him. Not because of the attacks on the press, or attacks on the sitting members of Congress, or using the government as a weapon to persecute and prosecute opponents. No.
MAGAzens are turning on Trump because he failed to release the Epstein files and he failed to lower prices. Now, thanks to Trump’s own failed policies, it’s too late for him to fix either.
Trump has tried badgering and bullying his way back to strength. He’s lied from the beginning and fed people’s hate and fear. Those aspects of his portfolio have grown old and thin.
Trump tried bribing We the People, attempting to buy popularity with various ‘dividends’. But Trump’s brand is so toxic, even that failed to gain Trump any props.
Trump tried to lower prices, drilling, making deals for oil and gas, temporarily suspending sanctions and tariffs. They, too, failed to win anyone back, as his efforts instead highlighted his hypocrisy.
Now Trump has returned to his most proven, effective tool, attacking immigrants and women. Doesn’t matter if the woman he’s attacking is a sitting member of Congress, legally elected to the office by We the People, and legally sworn in.
Trump has never cared for law or justice and won’t begin now. Donald Trump will just attack more, hoping to bully his way into popularity once again.
So, brace yourself. I don’t doubt that this is just a test case. Trump and his minions and advisors floated this raid on Rep. Omar to see how it floats with his base.
Trump doesn’t see that a growing number of people are weary of him and ready to turn the page.
Vote blue in November, so we can keep turning the page on Donald Trump.

Believe it or not, today on FB, I read several comments by “lefties” who were saying: 1) They are so sick of the left’s cancel culture, 2) They are so disappointed in Dems because they are weak (or don’t do ‘enough’), 3) The Dems don’t support their 1% favorite topic ‘enough’…
That they are going to vote GOP as a protest vote.
…
Let that sink in.
That’s ONE of several reasons we currently have Trump again.
How is THAT working for these so-called liberals???!!!!!
FFS, how do you even combat such non-logic?
I’m seeing it more and more in comments, and I don’t think it is MAGA trolls doing it. These seem legit lefties. This is going into midterms.
I need an adult beverage.
Vote Blue, No Matter Who

I’m voting blue and if there are mofos out there putting out that sentiment, they deserve the crap world they live in. Yeah, I’ll join you at the bar.

I heard that sentiment a fair amount before Trump 1.0. Seeing it resurge now? Goddess help us all.

If it helps, they’re lying about being liberals and/or Democrats. There are plenty of strong candidates out there to support, who will do our work the way we need it done as long as we let them know what we want.
FB is historically notorious for Republicans and Libertarians/libertarians (unaffiliated with the party) doing things like what you write in the weeks before an election when Dems have some momentum, and Republicans keep punching themselves in their faces. Don’t let it worry you, and especially, don’t bother arguing with them. They’re simply trying to suppress the vote. You know what’s correct and what’s real; not every FB post is.
I hope that helps! I’ve been around the politics game for a lotta years; there is little I’ve not seen, and the patterns continue.

I’ve been around for quite a few years myself…
I agree that the “liberals” who would spout such nonsense are not real liberals. They are myopic idiots.
However, I do not think the people I saw making those comments are MAGA trolls. I’ve seen those too. I also check the pages of the people making the comments, and many are people I “know” from reading comments over the years. They tend to be from the FAR left, anti-capitalists, or one-topic folks. Left of progressives, etc. There is a saying that the far extremes, FAR right and FAR left, end up looking an awful lot alike as the “horseshoe” bends at the ends to meet.
The idiot protest votes also DID happen in both of Trump’s elections. Do I think they are the majority of people who voted for Trump? No. But the wishy-washy people who are too stupid to see past the end of their special-interest noses are there.
I’ve lived through enough politics to remember the “Coasters” saying, “No way Trump will ever get elected!” Twice. “Don’t worry about it” isn’t a good position.

Far left with quotes, as you wrote it, is the appropriate way to phrase it. Those are the ones who feel that all should be burned down so they can rebuild the world the way they want it, except they’ll be the bosses and the rest of us will do the work their way. They also refuse to get involved with elections or campaigns, thinking that absolves them of responsibility when things work out the way, say, they are right now. In fact, though, they are as guilty as the ones who whole-heartedly voted for this.
They’re just out to wreck it for everyone, and to suppress the vote. You may see them talk about fair housing, but they aren’t out there working on it. They might say they want universal health insurance, but they aren’t out there working on it. They’re only out there complaining about everyone, so that people will despair and not vote at all.
Some people call them “purity ponies.” But they only talk (write.) They don’t work for anyone’s goals, including their own.
Anyone who voted for Trump wanted Trump to be elected.
I hope this comes off right, Laura. I’m not complaining about you or what you have to say; I enjoy your comments so much. But these people we write of here just tick me off. I worked hard in politics for over 3 decades trying to get good people elected, who’d do our work our way, only to run into these precise people of whom you write, and they wreck it every time for our side. No matter whose side they say they’re on, they’re on the side against we the people.
Please don’t let me put you off, Laura. I’m not mean, and have tried to work on this comment so you won’t feel negatively about your writing. Some subjects get stuck in my craw, as it were! 🙂 ☮

I’m not sure if I can leave another reply in this thread, but here goes:
We’re good. I’m sorry that I came off touchy and put off. I *was* touchy, but only because I had a really bad day yesterday, and before I answered your comment I had a go round with a purity pony (I haven’t heard that before, and it is awesome) on FB. The myopia is just… stupid. “I will only vote for Dems who meet my personal litmus test 100%” gets the GOP elected!!! Etc etc etc. So, like you say, things get stuck in craws. Or as my malapropism prone brain says, “Some things just grate my goat!”

OK, I’m glad. Actually, you did not come off as touchy. Voting is one of my “things,” and I didn’t want the naysayers to discourage you! I worry so much about that, ever since Ralph Nader ran in the 2000 election. The ponies run in packs with this stuff. You were fine, and I’m glad you didn’t take me wrong; I’ve been obsessing about that, and about using space on Mike’s blog to put off a fellow reader. Peace and joy to you today, and I hope your path is clear of the purity ponies! I like grating my goat, too. I may switch out the craw thing for the goat! 🙂
