Friday’s Wandering Thoughts

“Let’s go,” I urged myself this morning. “Time is ticking away. Time to go write. Let’s go, let’s go, let’s go.

“Well, first I’ll dress. Of course. And shave. Okay, let’s go. Let’s go, let’s go, let’s go.

“I should clean the kitchen first. And exercise before I do that. Okay, let’s go, let’s go, let’s go, let’s go.

“But I think I’ll have more coffee first. Okay, let’s go. Let’s go, let’s go, let’s go.”

  1. Hi Michael. Wow that sound so much like my day, every day. How I have a plan and yet always need to get to this one thing first, then that one thing … And suddenly all the time is gone and I got very little of the task I had planned done. I wonder if there is a medical term for it. As a creative writer, I am sure you would be able to supply the medical community with the proper term. I look forward to what you come up with. 😀😄🤩 Hugs. 1. Hey Scottie, LOL – in part of my brain’s muttering is the idea that there are different kinds of time and we don’t fully appreciate all the nuances.

An easier answer and current thinking is that what you experience is time perception changing, and that it relates to how much information is being received. Thus our time perception is different when you’re young and picking up a lot of new informatin. Also, I think that if your mind and body is busy doing something, you simply pay less attention to time, so it becomes a surprise that it’s passed.

But out in science world, they hold our neurotransmitters are related to time perception, so dopamine, serotonin, and norepinephrine levels can affect your time perceptions. This is another reason why time perception changes as you age.

But returning to my first statement about different kinds of time, time is a joint construct among entities (just like reality), so together we establish what sort of time we’ll experience, and how. If you’re alone, of course, all the things about dopamine, norepinephrine, serotonin, and paying attention (or not) will establish your relation with time.

Or maybe it’s just coffee. Hugs, M
