Yeah, and I’m guilty of that, too. In fact, just not 30 seconds before this post popped up in my ‘Reader’, I had finished a bit of a rant (to nobody in particular, since I have the house to myself at the moment) which I ended with “And I really don’t care anymore!” Sigh …

People who say they don’t care really mean they don’t want to care. In my experience, anyway.

Absolutely. I believe it’s a bitter, exhausted, temporary surrender thing, a sort of verbal reflex.
