Tuesday’s Wandering Thoughts

Always amazes me how I arrive home and suddenly need to urgently pee. It’s not like I was driving home and had the urge and ignored it. No, it strikes after I get into the house.

It’s not just me, either. My wife usually reacts before I do, walking into the house, greeting the cats, and then announcing, “Oh, gotta pee.”

I always wonder if it’s another case of event boundaries. Like, oh, you’re home, so you pee. Or is it conditioning built up over the years: you come home, you pee.

Don’t know. Maybe there’s something in the house air that triggers it.

Or are we the only ones like this?

  1. Hi Michael. I have the same but different issues. I can pee before leaving, but even driving for 20 minutes makes me need to go again. For me it is the motion of the car. It somehow stimulates the old bladder and system to make me feel the need. Just a tip. When on a trip, Ron and I make sure to take a plastic urinal with us in case we can not get to an exit or rest stop in time. We used them in the hospitals we worked in, and they can be found at any drug store. It won’t help your wife, but might save you some pain. Hugs. Scottie

    1. Scottie, you remind me of three things. One, Mom always used to tell us, ‘go use the bathroom’ before we piled into the car. Two, my wife always takes one final wee before we leave the house. Three, I should buy one of those plastic urinals for our go bag in case of evactuation. It might make a difference. Hugs ‘n cheers
