Sixty-eight has a good feel to it to me.
I’m 68 years old today. Well, if you believe the state’s official records, and Mom and Dad. Mom and Dad claim they were there. But you know, parents tell stories. Like Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, or that they walked ten miles through snow uphill to get to school every day. Who can believe them?
My phone and computer has been pinging with birthday wishes from friends around the world. That really makes my heart swell three times its normal size.
I’ve been looking forward to becoming sixty-eight. It’s because of cars. See, in 1968, when I was twelve, cars excited and interested me. At one point, I thought I’d become an adult and design cars. I drew them all the time. ’68 was the year I saw sporty performance Mustangs and Camaros, along with an actual XK-E Jaguar that someone parked in a neighbor’s driveway. So cool!
So 68 has a good feel for me. It’s exciting, full of energy and promise. I hope I can sustain that across 365 days, because I’m getting pretty excited about becoming 69. Wait till I tell you about it.
Happy Bithday Michael. The fun element drops off after 69 and you look forward to all birthdays just to prove you’re still alive. Hugs

LOL – Thanks, David. I heard that from other friends. One said, “Wait till you’re eighty.” Cheers

Natal Day Greetings, Michael! Hope it was a spectacular day. Did you ever get the car of your dreams and/or drawings?
I can’t wait until next year for your 69 revelations. ~Nan

Well, I did buy a 68 Camaro. First car I bought with my own cash, so I guess I did. Thanks, nan. Cheers

My younger sister’s first car was a Camaro. It was a few years later than yours though.

My SIL had a latter Camaro, after safety bumpers came into the design requirements. It was much larger and boxier than my nimble little coupe. Cheers

She bought hers in 1976-77, something like that. It was a smooth ride. I’m sure she still remembers it fondly.

A smooth ride is one of the highest compliments for a car. Cheers

Hi Michael. Happy birthday. I helped my older hell spawn male sibling pay to have his Pontiac Fire bird Trans Am repainted. He offered it to me for a very small sum. Looking back I sort of regret not buying it. It had a huge engine but what stopped me I was going up a steep hill, down shifted and realized I was headed now down hill. The car had so much low end torque I spun completely around. In truth it scared me. But instead I bought an expensive 4X4 truck. Oh if I could take back so many car choices of my youth. I am now 61, with my history I never thought I would get to this age I was sure I would die early, but I love keeping living. I intend to keep doing it, I like it, it seems a good thing. I love my hubby and he makes it worthwhile. Again wish you the best. Hugs,

Ah, Scottie, I, too, am plagued with some car decisions that could have gone better. Yes, those Trans Ams were hauling machines. My BIL had one. Hugs ‘n cheers, M
