Floofosphere

Floofosphere (floofinition) – Animals and their environment.

In use: “The home floofosphere was decorated by pet toys — a tennis ball and squeaky bone for the dogs, feathers, jingle balls, and toy mouse for the cats — along with beds, pillows, and a cat tree, where one cat stared down on the visitor, apparently irritated by their presence, possibly ready to go for the kill.”

Flooftorian

Flooftorian (floofinition) – 1. An imperial animal bodyguard.

In use: “The big German Shepherd was friendly as all get-out until someone raised a voice or a hand at Robby. Maxwell was then immediately a Flooftorian, ready to destroy anyone threatening his person in any way.”

2. A human who fights for animals and their rights and defends animals.

In use: “The little girl became a Flooftorian when she was five when she stopped older kids from mistreating and abusing a puppy. Though she did not know it, her course for the future was set.”

3. An animal from the planet Floofto.

In use: “After the Flooftorian exited the Floof Exchange, arriving on Earth, she began looking for a place to call home. Her appearance resembled a T-rex, so it surprised many. They thought the species was extinct, and didn’t realize that it had just gone off to other worlds.”

Parafloof

Parafloof (floofinition) 1. Two animals.

In use: “Suzanne was thinking that she’d enjoy a parafloof but Atlas embodied the energy of three animals, so she kept putting the decision off.”

2. A trained animal who assists other animals.

In use: “The puppy was blind but the cat became his parafloof, showing him around the house, guiding him with sounds and gentle paw taps.”

3. A short composition about an animal or animals.

In use: “Social media has become a great animal adoption tool as photos with a parafloof based on the animal’s story are posted to attract people.”

Floofgate

Floofgate (floofinition) – A scandal involving animals.

In use: “The latest floofgate — given the more specific name of messgate — was the overturned kitchen trash can and broken, upended Christmas cactus. The cat and dog, knowing something wrong had been done but aware she didn’t know the floofpetrator — or had they been in floofhoots? — stayed motionless on either end of the sofa, watching her with large eyes, waiting.”

Floofgeist

Floofgeist (floofinition) – General or prevailing mood among a group of animals.

In use: “Whatever had happened during the day while she was out, Brenda returned to a floofgeist of wary pets, setting her nerves on edge.”

Floofsurrus

Floofsurrus (floofinition) – A soft rustling sound sometimes heard when an animal passes.

In use: “Floofsurrus to the right, by the bed’s footboard, informed him that one of the cats was in motion. Subsequent bouncy pawfalls and kibble crunching told on Papi visiting the food bowl.”

EFP (Extra Floofsory Perception)

EFP (Extra Floofsory Perception) (Floofinition) – 1. An animal’s sudden awareness that another animal is about.

In use: “Sue saw and heard nothing but Cinder’s EFP kicked in, and the cat rose, heading to the window. Sitting down, staring, she waited. A minute, two maybe, and another cat strolled into sight.”

2. Animal’s inexplicable ability to know and understand matters.

In use: “Bethanne knew that she couldn’t spell vet around Lumber, leave off speaking the word aloud. She’d even quit mentioning it in emails and text. Yet, Lumber’s extra floofsory perception knew that Wednesday afternoon that she wasn’t taking him to the park; Lumber knew she had a vet visit planned, and immediately hid his leash, then did his best to hide his seventy-five pounds of fur in the closet.”

Floof Pas

Floof Pas (floofinition) – An animal’s significant or embarrassing blunder or mistake.

In use: “Cats often cover a floof pas like a poorly executed jump by sitting down and coolly washing, as if saying, ‘I meant to do that.'”
