  1. Hi Michael. Friend what I am reading from this is that she is saying writers need to have a thick skin. Maybe I am miss reading this. But I thought all true authors walked sort of in the world with an armor of their words, worlds, the places they create so that the slings and arrows of the “mundane world” did not deter or push them too hard. Not being an author nor having those skills, I always felt authors followed their own drummer and their own music regardless of the world around them. Am I wrong? Hugs. Scottie

    1. Well, Scottie, writers supposed to develop thick skins. As with any endeavor, some of us are better at that than others, and most of us have uneven results. Quite a few of us suffer some levels of imposter syndrome and don’t think ourselves good enough. We write in solitude, and we think we do a pretty good job. And while we recognize that people’s tastes vary and you can’t please everyone all the time, those intellectual realizations do little to armor us against our emotional reactions. So, when our written go out, especially when we’re telling stories, it’s often with a huge deep breath and something like, ‘here goes nothing’ muttered under our breath.

Thanks for reading and commenting. Cheers
