A small rant, s’il vous plait. A first world thing. First, apologies.
Apologies to the people being denied rights for me being so upset by my ‘plight’. Apologies to women who have lost control over their bodies to male-dominated governments who arrogantly decide what is right and wrong for you because of what they decided their religion tells them, regardless of your religion or circumstances.
My apologies to those dying in wildfires, or fighting wildfires, or enduring the terrible smoke.
Of course, apologies to people still getting COVID, still dying from it, or coping with long COVID.
I’m sorry, everyone having heart attacks and strokes, or dealing with cancer, and other diseases.
Likewise, apologies to everyone still rebuilding after a hurricane or tornado flattened your domicile, or who lost their home, loved ones, and belongings in a flood or other natural disaster.
My abject condolences and sincere apologies to the LGBTQ+ community and the indignities forced upon you by people too ignorant and uncaring to give you sympathy or empathize with your situation, who instead monstrously decide to compound your problems by building bureaucratic walls and persecuting you.
I apologize for those who have governments who think material goods and wealth is more important than health, security, and welfare of their citizens.
Apologies to the victims of racism and sexism, discrimination, and hate crimes.
Apologies to the food insecure, to the homeless, to the murder victims, gun violence victims, and police brutality. Apologies to the abused children, to the mentally ill who can’t find help, to the struggling and working poor, and the refugees around the world. Apologies to the people dying in famines and wars, and apologies to those working multiple jobs just to get by. Apologies to spouses with cheating and abusive partners. Apologies to the desperate and hopeless.
I haven’t covered everyone but I’ve done what I could, apologizing to everyone who has truly serious matters to deal with. That out of the way, you wouldn’t believe how long my Microsoft update took today.
So frustrating, you know?
Oh wow! Talk about putting things into perspective … you’ve aced it! Thank you, Michael, for reminding us all that our little day-to-day challenges are naught as compared to what so many are going through. Hugs ‘n cheers

Ach! All those apologies, and not one word of sorrow for the plight of bears, bees, birds, bunnies, or butterflies. You humans think so highly of yourselves, but the real victims of human endeavours are the beasts of the field, the creatures that crawl, the animals that ambulate on four feet, the fowls that fly, and the otters thai slide down slippery slopes of solicitude. And what about all the plants and trees who cannot run away from the wildfires and floods and earthquakes and lava and… and… and the changes to our environments caused by the industry of humans. We are all dying because of you!
But do you care? Obviously not! Or you would clean up the air we all need to breathe, and the water we all need to drink! You messed it up! It is time you did something for us!

You know I share your horror at the atrocities humankind has inflicted on all other living species, but … that’s a whole different topic for another day, my friend.

I was actually trying to be funny, this time. Michael had a great list of existential things to be guilty for. I thought I would just add a few more. (Notice, I was just the translator, not the speaker!)

I did notice that you were the translator, thanks, and I grasped the tongue-in-cheek (supposing the messenger has a tongue and cheek) voice. Thanks for the clarification. Cheers

The messenger was actually a bee. A particular bee. In a normal year we have lots of bees around, busy doing bee things. Our lilacs are in bloom right now, and there seems to be only one (1) bee collecting pollen this year, all by herself. I have watched her for three days now. She is big, so very visible. The biggest bee I have ever seen in my life. Three times the size of a drone. And she is the only one working in my yard. Usually we have a whole hive of bees working the lilacs, but not this year! Where did they all go?

I know. I was out yardworking the other day. I pull weeds some, to keep the madness down but use no pesticides, herbicides, etc.
A woman came along and began photographing bees on coyote lavender in our front yard. She and I talked about how bees used to be so prevalent but now when I work outside, I don’t see nor hear as many. We keep a pollinator zone in the backyard full of weeds and flowers. Bees were there and busy yesterday, along with a few monarch butterflies, but it’s not enough. Heartbreaking, another heartbreaking aspect of our existence.

Butterflues? No butterflies up here so far this year. Not even cabbage butterflies. I guess the smoke from the wildfires a hundred miles to the west are keeping evefything away. No birds at our feeder even. I don’t know what to tnink! Nature is broken…

Ahhhhhh … I should have known, but didn’t realize it was meant to be humorous. My fault … I’m sorry!

No apology needed. It was still truth.

Well, thanks, my friend. Good reminder of how short-sighted I was being. Cheers

Didn’t mean it that way. Really. As I told Jill, I was trying to add some “honest “humour. I liked what you did.

So many things that we hate, about what’s going on in our, governments, what’s going on in the world currently, and, there’s, not a, single thing we can do about them, we can, only, keep our heads down, and, keep on, doing what we need to, to, keep our lives, going…

That’s exactly how I feel so many times. Wearying, frustrating, isn’t it? Makes me wonder more what life and existence is all about. Thanks for reading and commenting. Cheers

I reckon you might need a month of work (taking into account comfort breaks, meals, a snatch of sleep and other ‘stuff’) to even approximate the whole.
Still, it’s a very good start and reminding us all that the Reactionary Forces never rest or can be simply the subject of complacent jokes.
Thank you.

No reason for you to apologize to all those ppl. Their plights are not your fault, you didn’t do anything wrong.
But “Microsoft update”???
Really. I won’t apologize to you either since your problem is purely selfmade. Nobody told you to use Microsoft’s bad software products or did they? Just use a simple Linux distribution and forget all that amateurish spyware crap Microsoft is unloading onto you.
Here you go to get the agreed bestest beginner distro: https://linuxmint.com/
With its Cinnamon desktop environment you’ll feel familiar right away: Start Menu and all is almost Win-like … only better. And you get a plethora of pre-installed softwares with it and thousands of more specialized programs easily and freely installable from the repository.
It’s a lifechanging experience. Hubby and me are using various Linux distros on various machines and never looked back to Windows or MacOS.

No, they’re not my fault, but complaining about my small inconvenience to my privileged existence compelled the apologies. True that it’s self-made as well. I’ve used Linux several times through the years, including a stint where my employer, IBM, had me load up a laptop with Linux and use only open source apps on it for a year. Thanks for reading and commenting. Cheers

So why did you go back to MS? Masochist much?

Oh, yes, surely. Love sabotaging myself. Actually, it’s a tale of expediency, just age old experience with MS. No OS is glitch-free. Nor are browsers and apps, but decades’ worth of exposure to MS cultivated habits, so here I am. Cheers
