Sniff, Lick & Cover (Catfinition): Prescribed etiquette for a finicky sophisticat’s evaluation and dismissal of food. One, approach the food, stopping two to three inches away. Two, stretch neck out, and deeply and suspiciously sniff the food. Three, step forward and give the food one lick. Four, turn around and mime covering the food as though feces is being buried.
Sniff, lick & cover is appropriate for all foods, regardless of price, source, or past enjoyment of the food.
Food Prance (Catfinition): A feline’s jaunty movement, with its tail up, as it accompanies you when you’re about to feed it.
Purronym or Purr de Floof (Catfinition): The other names by which a cat becomes known.
Housefloof (Catfinition): A cat who plants itself in one place.
Catfurpolitan (Catfinition): Any drink with feline fur garnishing it.
Catsternation (Catfinition): A feline’s feelings of anxiety or dismay at something unexpected.
In Use: Hearing the loud bang, Papi’s pupils became huge pools of catsternation.
Purrosphere (Catfinition): A global network connecting millions of computers dedicated to sharing information and images of cats. Sometimes arcanely referred to as the Internet.
Floofstep (Catfinition): A spontaneous and awkward dance to avoid a cat acting as a floofmat, floofstruction, or on an intercept course to make a demand, or beg for food or attention.
Concatpurrate / Concatpurration (Catfinition): The actions a household takes to make a feline happy and keep it purring; the establishment of a process and structure for the purpose of
In Use: Michael concatpurrated his daily arrangements to feed the cats early, while opening and closing doors for them to come and go during the night, sacrificing his sleep for his cats’ happiness. He rationalized his concatpurration by telling himself, if he didn’t concatpurrate like that, they’d be fighting and meowing all night, and constantly scratching at doors.
Kakrep (Catfinition): A morning advisory of what cat vomited in what location, so nobody steps in anything, the cat’s health can be checked, and everything gets cleaned up.
