Floofrolling

Floofrolling (floofinition) – A prank involving an unexpected appearance of an animal video. Victims believing that they are accessing some unrelated material, click on a disguised hyperlink in a classic bait and switch ploy that leads to the animal video.

In use: “Inspired by rickolling, an internet phenomenon that emerged in 2007, floofrolling soon took over as a popular means to prank people.”

Saturday’s Theme Music

Another blogger posted about taking his son to see Lynyrd Skynyrd and Status Quo in concert. I thought that’d be a rockin’ thing for a father and son to do together, and he wrote about it in his usual charming and humorous, slightly weary way. Skynyrd was part of my formulative southern rock education. I came across Status Quo much later, hearing quite a bit of them when I lived in Germany for a few years and criss-crossed Europe on different assignments. I don’t recall hearing much of them in America. It helped, I guess, that I had Brit friends who were big Status Quo fans for a while.

Thinking of Status Quo, I began streaming “Beginning of the End” (2007). It’s a regular walking tune for me. Lyrics like, “Is this the beginning of the end, or the end of the beginning. The way you got me goin’ tells me I don’t know. I don’t understand any song that you are singin’. The jury’s out, we’re gonna let you know.” They play crisply against a hard rock, fast moving beat. Good video to my eye. The London Eye fascinates me, and the band looks like they’re enjoying themselves, like proper rockers should.

Hope you enjoy the tune.

Sunday’s Theme Music

My mind seems like it’s always writing or thinking about writing. Yesterday, while yardwork was being done, I drifted into writing land to contemplate the great question, “What comes next?” Activities like yardwork, once engaged, usually requires little thinking, so it frees up a lot of brain energy. Boosted by yesterday’s entertaining session and success, I dove into the what’s next game and wrote in my head for a while, building a foundation for today’s progress. As I finished that, song lyrics popped up:

Well sometimes I go out by myself and I look across the water
And I think of all the things, what you’re doing and in my head I make a picture

That line right there feels like a writing song, right? Of course, it’s from a well-established song. My neurotransmitters were soon streaming “Valerie” by Mark Ronson and Amy Winehouse, circa 2007. As I sang the song to myself, I remembered the video and went back and watched it again. I so enjoyed it that I thought it was ideal for Sunday’s theme music.

Pretty cool video. Hope you enjoy it. Hope you have an excellent day, no matter the day.

Friday’s Theme Music

“‘Cause I’d rather feel pain than nothing at all.”

It’s an old cliché. I think I’ve seen it in movies multiple times.

I was thinking all that yesterday when a character said that. Another character said, “Cliché,” and the third character said, “Three Days Grace, “Pain”, 2007.”

I gave the character help, looking the date up for him. He’s supposed to know these things, but he came up short (cliché!). I always think Three Days Grace could be a rock group from the previous century. Well, honestly, that’s when they started, so, it fits.

Friday’s Theme Music

According to Wikipedia.org, today’s song choice was released in 2007 and has been used in movies and televisions. I hadn’t heard it until I was shopping in Fred Meyers yesterday. Listening to the words, I told myself to look it up when I returned home. And ‘lo, I remembered and did.

Here is “New Shoes” by Paolo Nutini.

Today’s Theme Music

An old favorite, Steve Winwood wrote this song. Blind Faith with Winwood on vocals, recorded and released the song in 1969. Others covered it multiple times. I like this live version from Guitar Crossroads, with Steve Winwood, Eric Clapton, Derek Trucks and Doyle Bramhill.

It’s a good walking song, and easy to sing in your head. Enjoy.
