Hi Michael. Question. How do you feel about audiobooks vs the written work? I recently bought two audiobooks of books I own and read. There were changes between the two versions, often seeing the audio was different or maybe censored from the original. For example in the original written form twice the hero gave the single finger salute that was removed from the audio version.
I like the idea of audiobooks as I now have little time for reading. I can have them playing as I work, in my ears through ear buds. But if they are not true to the written work it seems a rip off to me as they are more expensive in a lot of cases. Hugs

Audio books can be a fine addition to actual reading. I’ve used them when I drove long distances. I do prefer physical books because we all do carry our own baggage into the book, and the inflections and nuances others add via reading it aloud can change the book’s feel and impact. But as readers’ eyesight falls, they turn to audio books, and that helps indulge their love of reading. Hugs, M

Hi Michael. This was still in my saved tabs. So I wanted to ask you as a professional writer … do you ever feel you have the “keep writing long after the point is made” on a post? I sometimes find when I am feeling good my comment or reply will be much longer than the original post. I am not sure the person I am commenting to appreciates that so much. How to condense my thought, my idea to a smaller size while keeping the same impact? Thanks. Hugs

Well, Scottie, that’s what editing is about. On my end, I write to help me think things through. Then I edit to improve the results, including length and clarifying my point. Don’t always do a good job of it, but I keep trying. Cheers, M
