People with cats are familiar with catmentation, the position taken by felines that anything being done is better accomplished with at least one cat to supervise activities.

I hear you. Close a door on a sleep cat and after a minute, there’s insistent scratching. I can imagine them demanding, “What are you doing in there? Let me in to see.” What characters they are.
