Today’s Theme Music

Okay, today’s theme music selection is posted as defensive measure.

I have an ear bug. It’s my wife’s fault. She played this song on her computer the other day. It’s stuck in me, providing background music to every activity. An old remedy claims that only two ways to end the suffering of a song stuck in your head exist. The preferred way is to sing the song out loud so others hear it, or play it for them. If they start singing it, it will move out of you and infect another.

So here it is, the song infection I’ve suffered the last several days, Dolly Parton singing ‘Here You Come Again’  from 1977.

  1. According to my clone, the one certain cure for an ear bug is to listen to Tori Amos’ song “Cornflake Girl.” It doesn’t a;ways work for me, though; sometimes I just end up with “Cornflake Girl” layered over the other song so I hear both of ’em.

  2. I have used that method…singing it aloud and then infecting another. I was a high school senior taking accounting and had the song, “Heaven, I’m in Heaven” in my head all day long (heard it the previous evening on TV). Was singing it softly while waiting for the teacher to finish up with someone else before talking to her. When she asked what I was singing, I sang the lines from the song. As I walked out of class, it was gone. Until the next day, when Mrs. Hines told me she had the song playing over and over in her head, and she blamed it all on me. My response: that’s funny, it no longer bothered me after class. I suppose it’s a good thing I was one of the best students in the class. ~nan

PS. I refuse to listen to Dolly Parton. I have enough ear worms without starting that one, Michael
