Janfur and Junfur

Janfur and junfur (Catfinition):  Refers to a cat’s seasonal coats. Originating in Australia, junfur refers to a cat’s thickest coat, grown to keep it warm in winter, and janfur is the coat’s lighter, summer coat. In regions north of the equator, the situation is reversed, and the janfur is grown in winter to keep the coat warm, while the junfur comes in during the summer month’s.

In Use: “Quinn’s thick, luxurious janfur, grown to cope with Oregon’s cold winters, had given way to a thinner, lighter, and shorter junfur. He appeared to lose ten pounds after his janfur was gone.”

In Use: “Brenda wanted to stay up and watch a documentary, but Lady exerted her infloofence, insisting it was time to go to bed, so that’s what happened.”

Heliosfloof

Geocatric (Catfinition): A household arranged or organized around cat activities.

In Use: “The home’s geocatric arrangment required food and water bowls in several rooms and behind closed doors to minimize angry feline confrontations along the lines of, “Someone’s been eating in my bowl.””

Fleep (Catfinition): to sweep up items with fur.

Fleeper (Catfinition): A cat with fur that seems to sweep up matter and carry it in and around the house; a cat that appears to generate and drop foreign matter from its fur.

In Use: “One cat is long-haired, one has mixed-length fur, and the third is a short-hair, but the three fleep bark, twigs, and leaves with their fur, carrying the debris into the house, and depositing it in random piles.”

Defurestation

Defurestation (Catfinition): A policy of attempting to remove all shed cat fur from every possible service. Pro-defurestation camps and con-defurestation factions have strongly held opinions about the value of defurestation. Con-defurestation fans advocate that trying to remove all cat fur is senseless, that cat fur on clothing and furniture, or in food, is an acceptable risk for bonding with a cat. Pro-defurestation people say, “Bullshit to all that.”

Catasy (Catfinition): felines’ imaginary worlds, although such worlds often include real people, locations, and events that become embellished with the cat’s personal perspective.

In Use: “The cats were restricted to the house during the fireworks, to help them stay safe and feel safer. With these catasies as a fount for their energy, they soon began hunting escape routes.”

Becatted

Becatted (Catfinition): enchanted by a feline; under a feline’s spell.

In Use: “She knew it was time to get up, dress and rush to work, but Flash was cozy against her. Succumbing to the warm cat’s furry body, she acknowledged, she was becatted. Her will was no longer her own.”

Floort

Floort (Catfinition): a flirtatious kitty.

In Use: “Every day, the chubby little gray and white floort with the purple collar would pop-up by Michael’s fence. Sitting down, she regarded him with golden eyes. When she finally saw that she had his attention, she would stand, tail up, and release a song of lament about her starving state that clearly contradicted her physical appearance. Of course, Michael, being the pushover he was, would provide the floort with some chin love and kibble. Satisfied, the little Princess would then return home and resume her snoozing on her people’s front porch.”
