“Floof Prairie League”

“Floof Prairie League” (floofinition) – Country-floof rock band whose origins go back to Yellow Springs, Ohio.

In use: “Floof Prairie League’s song, “Floofie” (1970), is about a cat, Floofie, who keeps going in and out of the house, frustrating its friend, a dog:

“I keep going in and out of the house with you, in and out of the house with you, don’t know what I’m gonna do, I keep going in and out of the house with you.”

Floofhand

Floofhand (floofinition) – 1. Someone hired to tend animals.

In use: “After adding more rescued animals (saved from wildfires, hurricanes, winter storms, and abandonment), she decided to get serious and hire several floofhands.”

2. The preferred hand for petting or scratching an animal.

In use: “She reached out the bet the cat. Jerking back, he carefully sniffed her floofhand before accepting her affection.”

Imflooftative

Imflooftative (floofinition) – Copying or following a model or example set by an animal.

In use: “Many floofs, aware that humans are often easily manipulated, like to induce people to pursue imflooftative behavior, such as barking, meowing, and purring. Animals often regard these antics and post them on Floofbook for others to experience.”

Floofticate

Floofticate (floofinition) – Chew, as done by an animal, on objects such as slippers, wood, pillows, etc.

In use: “Whenever she left the house, she first checked the collie’s mood, for if the dog was anxious, she would floofticate anything that she found, and Marie had already gone through too many shoes this year. It’d been that way since her husband had died.”

Comfloofmacious

Comfloofmacious (floofinition) – An animal who is stubbornly disobedient.

In use: “Ordering the comfloofmacious ginger feline to get off the kitchen counter earned her an amused emerald gaze from the cat.”

Transflooftion

Transflooftion (floofinition) – An exchange between animals, or between an animal and a human.

In use: “Pets always found a comfortable position on the sofa beside him. Certain locations and positions were favored among the floofizens. All knew one moving would initiate a transflooftion to reach the best place, which was, of course, right up against the warmth of the man’s abdomen.”

Floofnado

Floofnado (floofinition) – 1. Whirlwinds or wind devils caused by the passage of a speedy, energetic animal.

In use: “Quiet conversations about the upcoming wedding were disrupted by a floofnado as the dog rocketed into the room, dashed around, evading a child chasing it, and sprinted back out of the room.”

2. A wind-based weather phenomena with an animal embedded in it.

In use: “One of the most famous examples of floofnado was a waterspout which had captured several sharks, becoming known as a sharknado.”

 

 

Melanfloofy

Melanfloofy (floofinition) – An animal who expresses a state of sadness without discernible or apparent reason.

In use: “The big golden red retriever seemed melanfloofy, showing little interest in going for a walk, which was definitely abnormal. Head resting on his front paws, he settled in his bed and stared out the front window for most of the morning. Then a cat walked up and peered in. Tail thumping his bed, Red leaped up. Melissa concluded, my dog is in love with a cat.”

Floofretta

Floofretta (floofinition) – A form of theater conducted by animals, frequently housepets.

In use: “The housefloofs often entertained themselves after Penney returned home by performing parts of “The Floof of Floofville”, a floofmedy about love, kibble, and furballs.”

Floofnomics

Floofnomics (floofinition) – A social science that deals with the production, distribution, and consumption of goods and services in relation to household pets.

In use: “In many homes, floofnomics includes losses (thefts, really) incurred by pets stealing food, or taking and hiding other items, such as socks and toys. Few are the owners that haven’t discovered part of their planned meal purloined.”
