Twozdaz Wandering Political Thoughts

The net has a few comments catching my attention today.

It is January 6 and we have the fifth anniversary of Trump’s first attempted coup to remember.

MPS offers a succinct reminder.

Fun-loving tourists spending an average January day at the Capitol.

Never forget that Republicans voted for this. Three times. That’s your root-cause analysis right there.

The net speaks!

Some samples from the net showing reactions to Dizzy Donny’s regime and their hypocrisy and latest failures.

Tone deaf and ignorant, screaming like a lost and bewildered toddler. That’s Trump.

MAGAland is an alter reality wealthy with hypocrisy.

More FAFO for your consideration.

Honesty. Integrity. Principles. Intelligence. Senator Kelly has all four. Cadet Bonespurs and his regime have none of them.

The cracks in Trump’s altered reality grow. The truth emerges. Still, some will refuse to see it, hear it, learn it, know it.

An effective and creative protest.

Lesson still not learned by some.

Lesson learned…again…? Maybe.

Check back in a few years.

Stuff from around the web.

Ha, ha, remember when Kristi Noem said this? My goodness, those Trumpers really lack memories, conscience, and principles, don’t they?

More of the same, Stephen Miller edition…

Trump’s actions are not popular. Is the country heading in the wrong direction? You bet! Will that stop him? No, because he’s locked into an alternate reality.

Priorities, priorities, priorities.

I don’t understand. Why would ICE agents go to a restaurant in a war zone?

Fridaz Wandering Political Thoughts

Unfettered by good sense, morality, or wise advisors, Trump is more frequently turning to violence for answers. A few months ago, he sent the U.S. national guard to LA on trumped up ideas about ‘restoring the city’. All with half a brain knew we were witnessing political theater and an attempt to intimidate anyone who opposes him. He’s threatened or used the same tactics on other cities, including the nation’s capitol, Washington, D.C. Each time, these are ‘blue’ cities, which means the Democratic Party holds many leadership positions. Each time, too, the facts about crime rates and violence which he cites are absolute lies.

Trump employed the U.S. military to attack Iran to destroy their nuclear weapons capabilities. Its success is questionable. Since then, he used the U.S. military to attack and kill eleven people in international waters. He gave no evidence to justify his actions. Acting like the king he thinks he is, he’s decided he has a divine right to attack and kill others if he deems them a threat. He’s shown the same disregard for intelligence, critical thought, and law as his minions employ armed and masked ICE agents to disappear people, regardless of their legal status, often making up questionable reasons for their actions.

Now, when someone who supported him, Charlie Kirk, a person who advocated violence, was killed, Trump blamed, without evidence, ‘radical left violence’. In his catalogue of political violence, Trump never mentions the violence he has advocated. He never mentions his supporters’ attack on Congress on Jan 6. Instead, he pardoned those people and rewarded one who was killed while breaking in and refusing police officer’s orders to stop. As Robert Reich writes, Trump never mentions Democrats who have been shot and killed. Trump calls Democrats enemies of the United States and treats them as such. He likes to make believe that he’s as strong and ethical as fictional characters like Superman.

But Trump, with his words and behavior, continues to display his brand as a bully, a divider who preaches hate. He’s a threat to common sense, peace, and justice, and he needs to face facts for a change and step up and take responsibility for the rising violence and polarization in the United States.

Before it worsens.

Twosda’s Wandering Political Thoughts

The headline is startling.

Urgent manhunt for former Arkansas police chief imprisoned for rape, murder It’s a gritty tale, thick with drama and hyperbole.

As law officers search Arkansas’ rugged Ozark Mountains for a former police chief and convicted killer who escaped prison this weekend, the sister of one of his victims is on edge.

Grant Hardin, the former police chief in the small town of Gateway near the Arkansas-Missouri border, was serving lengthy sentences for murder and rape and became known as the “Devil in the Ozarks.”

I’m surprised that he’s on the run. Trump just pardoned another convicted sheriff. His own DOJ was behind the prosecution and sentencing for former sheriff Scott Jenkins. Jenkins was found guilty and sentenced for bribery. But Scott Jenkins is a Trump supporter. Naturally, Trump pardoned him.

I figure that Grant Hardin should turn himself in, declare himself a massive Trump supporter, and ask for a Trump pardon. All he’d need to do is make a few speeches about how Biden was behind his prosecution and wax about how brilliant Trump is, and how the mango one is the greatest president ever, and a Trump pardon would surely be forthcoming. The violence shouldn’t matter. Trump is not that far removed from accusations of rape, and he eagerly pardoned all the Jan. 6 insurrectionists, even though people were killed through their violence. I figure another pardon for another convicted rapist and killer is fitting for Trump, the ‘law and order’ president.

It’s the kind of nation we’ve become.

The Invader Dream

Last night’s dream was like a summer blockbuster movie. Long thriller, lots of plot and action. Some highlights are offered.

To start, a civil war was breaking out. A young man, I was part of a large gang itching to go against the enemy, roaming a city’s residential area. We lacked weapons and training, though, except for the baseball bats, hammers, knives, and other weapony things we managed to scrap up. As we walked, cocky as hell, issuing ballsy statements about who we were and what we were going to achieve, we looked for a enemy gang we’d heard was in the area, we started hearing reports from other people that space invaders aliens — had landed and were conquering the world.

We discussed this dubiously, reckoning this was world class bullshit being spread. But as we walked, I stared left. There, I saw five black ships. Each was a square, with squared off stubby wings. I’d never seen anything like that. More, the five traveled in perfect spacing, revolving like they were part of a wheel. I saw them for just a few seconds before the horizon hid them.

Pointing, I shared with the rest what I’d witnessed. Disturbed silence took over the group. Others peaked around, looking for the things I’d described. Seeing them again, I pointed, shouting, “There. There they are.”

There were more this time, but the design and behavior was the same as before, and everyone saw them. Now we started taking the reports of invaders from space more seriously. Searching for more news about it, our focus changed to repealing the beings killing humans and trying to take over our planet.

Early fall slipped over late summer. We’d gained some weapons. I carried an automatic rifle. We were moving silently through a mostly abandoned neighborhood. People lived there not long before, because all the lawns were green and trimmed. We ran down a street past dead animals. The invaders were brutal killers. I called to others, telling them not to look at the dead cats, dogs, and birds littering the area.

A large house was selected as a refuge. Set back from the road, it had an enormous lawn. That would give us distance from the street. The aliens always came down the streets. Long legged, with thick thighs and calves and big feet, they looked like Sasquatch. Hard to take them seriously as advanced conquerors from space.

After getting our group into the house, I helped oversee getting people settled in the large, dark basement. We warned everyone, stay quiet. Rest and eat. Those of us armed would stay up on the ground level with our weapons, ready to repel the invaders if the house was found. I decided I would go outside to check the situation. Unbeknownst to me, others with weapons followed me.

A family came running around another house’s corner. Obviously frightened and panicked, I grasped that the aliens were after them. They barely spoke English. I conveyed to them to go into the house and go downstairs and stay quiet. Seeing one of the others behind me, I ordered them to take the newcomers to the house and settle them in the basement. As they went on, I faced the street, preparing to approach it to see if aliens were coming.

Dusk was coming. As I crept forward, an alien rushed around the corner. I dove to one side and rolled into hiding. Gunshots broke the silence behind me as one of my comrades shot the alien. It fell, dead.

Horrible mistake, I knew. We didn’t have the armaments or people to take on the aliens. I knew from experience that other aliens would come looking for the source of the shooting and to see what happened to their member. “Run,” I hissed at the rest. “Hide. Don’t go to the house.”

Worried about drawing attention from the house where the rest hid, I took off left behind a row of houses. Hit and run, I told myself, hit and run. I knew that would only work so long because the aliens weren’t fools.

Three other gang members were behind me. That surprised me but I set up two to hurry ahead and hide, expounding to them that we needed to move fast, never stay in one place, emphasizing hit and run, hit and run. The remaining member and I would do the hit and run thing for several hours. The aliens would realize what’s going on, and try to ambush us by setting up at another house ahead of where we were going. That’s why my pair of friends would already be waiting to shoot the aliens. Then we’d all take off.

With the plan set in motion, my buddy and I conducted breathtaking, frightening hit and run raids, running out to the street, shooting an alien, running back behind the house, hiding in bushes, shooting whoever came back to investigate, and then running to the next house to repeat the whole thing.

The sun was setting. It was growing colder, darker. I worried about ammo.

As expected, the aliens figured out what I was doing and tried to ambush me. My friends stepped out behind the two hulking aliens. I shouted, “Shoot them, shoot them.” My friends stood, rifles raised, frozen and gawking.

The aliens came after me. They always killed by some kind of injection. Close proximity was needed. They were strangely fast. I knew this but let them rush me. As they did, I threw myself to one side, firing while I did, managing to kill both.

Profusely sweating, breathing hard, I berated the two who’d failed to act and then ran to the street. No more aliens were in sight. Telling the rest to come with me, I led them back toward the house where the rest hid, watching my back as I went, angry that the others had failed when the moment came. I wondered then who I could trust.

I knew, too, aliens would be coming to the area to investigate the others’ deaths. We would need to move again. Grim-faced, I took in the last red rays given off by the setting sun and prepared myself for what needed to be done.

Saturday’s Theme Music

Saturday. February 6, 2021. 32 degrees F and foggy.

I was working the morning shift when the phone rang. A woman on the other end had called me with a warning. My car’s warranty had expired. I took down her details and told her I’d check it out.

Oh, sorry, began channeling Sergeant Joe Friday for some reason. Today’s sunset is at 5:32 PM. Sunrise was at 7:19 AM. In history, a month ago, Jan 6, 2021, insurrectionists stormed a session of Congress to ‘stop the steal’. Egged on the sitting POTUS, they were acting on fake information that he’d spread that his defeat was a result of massive fraud and that he had evidence. He’s never revealed his evidence. Nor has any of his mouthpieces.

Five people died that day, based on his lies. More have been arrested. Even more are being pursued be the FBI.

For some reason, “Karma Chameleon” by Culture Club (1983) gushed into my mental stream in an egregious ear worm incident, where it remains steady. I kept hearing, “You come and go, you come and go,” but the song doesn’t come and go. “Red, gold, and green, red gold, and green. Every day is like survival. You’re my lover, not my rival.”

Sorry. It took over. Little control over my writing thoughts seems in evidence today.

I thought then, that’s just the way you are, which invited the song, “Then the Morning Comes” by Smash Mouth (1999) into the stream. It successfully displayed Culture Club, so here we go.

Stay positive, test negative, wear a mask (unlike good ol’ Alfie Oakes).

Are you familiar with Alfie Oakes? Owns a grocery store in Florida where no one wears a mask. Says the pandemic is a hoax. Here’s an NBC News story snippet to introduce you to Alfie.

‘The store’s owner, Alfie Oakes, could not be reached for comment on Thursday. He told NBC’s “TODAY” show he knows masks do not work and doesn’t believe the coronavirus has killed hundreds of thousands of people in the United States.

“That’s total hogwash,” Oakes said, later adding, “Why don’t we shut the world down because of the heart attacks? Why don’t we lock down cities because of heart attacks?”‘

Yes sirrr, we have some veeerrry impressive thinking happening in that head.

Don’t be an Alfie. Wear a mask. Get the vaccine. Dance to some music. (Oh, no, I think I hear Sly and the Family Stone firing up.) “Then the Morning Comes”, stat!

Friday’s Theme Music

Todays sunrise in Ashland, OR, was 7:40 AM. Sunset is 5:04 PM. A light gray overcast sky keeps the sunshine at bay. The temperature is 42 degrees F but a high of 56 is projected, along with light rain.

Today’s theme music is “Animal I Have Become” by Three Days Grace, 2006. I chose the music on behalf of the United States and the nation that it’s become. Torn by division, rhetoric and activity turns more violent and urgent. As blacks have been killed by police, people took to the streets to protest the deaths. Many of them were senseless, but officers were exonerated. Several particularly infuriating people, like Breonna Taylor, unarmed, in bed, innocent of everything but being black, killed by police in their zest to ‘serve and protect’. There was also George Floyd, killed by an officer who was busy serving and protecting, by kneeling on his neck until he died while his fellow officers, serving and protecting, looked on. This was apparently for a report of a crime of passing a counterfeit twenty dollar bill. Numbingly, those are just two examples that fueled the anger and protests that swept the nation on behalf of justice in 2020.

Meanwhile, on the right, they got busy protesting those protests, screaming in response, “Blue Lives Matter”. That blue lives really didn’t matter to them became apparent (as if we weren’t sure) as Trump supporters, who are quite right wing, conservative, and white supremacists, battled with the police in support of a coup attempt, beating many police officers, killing one. On the right, they believe that the 2020 election was stolen by ‘the left’. They think that there was all sorts of fraud, uncounted ballots, and thrice counted ballots that helped propel Biden to his landslide (in Trump’s words, as Biden won the EC by the same number as Trump did in 2016). Trump himself, and GOP cohorts, continue feeding this lie. They insist that evidence exists.

This evidence has never been shown.

On the right, they claim the evidence will be shown, and we’ll all change our tune. What’s keeping them from showing this evidence anywhere is the response given by the rest of us.

One note that has everyone (outside of the people who believe that the 2020 election as stolen) shaking their heads, is why would this all-powerful election-stealing apparatus only steal the presidential election? Why would they not steal the Senate and House? Why wouldn’t they also steal the state elections? They use the same ballots. Apparently, though, while the right believes this election-stealing apparatus is all-powerful, it’s not powerful enough to steal those elections. Yeah, SMFH.

With Trump impeached again, Trump unwilling to concede, little change to police policies and practices, and FBI reports that the right have violent plans to change the results of the 2020 election, “Animal I Have Become”, a song about a man struggling with drug addiction, seems right.

On a WordPress note, they appeared to have fixed some issues, in my experience. The site published properly yesterday. Of course, today when I went to post, I couldn’t bring up a page. Took three tries, and the whole ‘post/block’ sidebar had vanished and needed to be called up.

Stay positive, test negative, moderate your drinking, and wear pants (and a mask) when appropriate. Cheers
