Twozdaz Theme Music

All the leaves are brown and the sky is gray outside my window, today, Twozda, November 18, 2025. It’s a bleak and dark look which does little to inspire the mind, body, or spirit to move. Our present temperature is 42 degrees F but it’s gonna surge to 45. Rain? Maybe, in the realm of a quarter inch or less.

Papi the orange floof dislikes this change of meteorological circumstance. He went out several times. Dissatisfied with his experiences, he’s sulking in the living room on his favorite chair, thinking of sleeping.

I ran two miles yesterday afternoon. Felt quite good after that, all lubed up and flexible, if you will. Supremely satisfying to having pieces working in rhythm with a thumping heart, heaving chest, and dribbles of sweat finding their chaotic paths down my skin. The warm shower afterward felt oh so good. With time’s passage, I’m now permitted to wash my incision sites, and gave them the first light cleaning they’ve had since the operation on Nov. 5.

The Neurons have provided me with “Stormy” by the Classics IV from 1968 as my morning mental music stream entertainment. I felt they offered this on Papi’s behalf, as The Neurons kept repeating, “Bring back that sunny days!” I’ve gone with the 1979 Santana cover.

Trump continues pursuing an altered reality which is only accessible by putting his head up his ass. He’s joined there by people who eagerly endorses his warped ideas on humanity, civilization, and society, such as the Heritage Foundation, purveyors of Project 2025. As Heather Cox Richardson explained, it’s all about having a world for the wealthy supported by the poor. Different rules apply for the wealthy. White men have major roles in keeping it organized and civilized. Ms Richardson tells us that we’ve gone through these before, with southern ‘gentlemen’ in the mid 1800s, and such business ‘leaders’ as Carnegie and Mellon, who seemed to have very low opinions of anyone who wasn’t wealthy and didn’t think those people worked hard enough. Sound familiar? You should read the whole thing.

I don’t know if peace and grace are going to show when it’s so gloomy looking outside. I don’t really blame them, as today’s weather is not an inviting presence. I’ll make do with coffee again. Here we go, once more into the breach. Cheers

Fridaz Wandering Political Thoughts

Trump has been flailing, ladies and gennulmen. Besides dozy off in meetings, he looks haggard and tired. Babblings have been going up as Democratic election, approval to release Epstein files rises in Congress, disapproval to raise and apply tariffs seems to be shaping up, and terrible economic trends are growing apparent. The shutdown made a huge dent in the economy. It’s a dent it couldn’t take. Prices are up. Trump is backpedaling on selected tariffs (like coffee) to bring prices down but doing so also undermines his premise that he’s applying tariffs because ‘it’s a national emergency’. He’s losing control faster than a speeding car hitting black ice. The question is, where will the slipping and sliding take him, the GOP, and the United States and world?

I thoroughly enjoy Heather Cox Richardson’s posts. November 13th’s post was an especially effective summation of Dozy Donny’s current struggles.

We are watching the ideology of the far-right MAGAs smash against reality, with President Donald J. Trump and his cronies madly trying to convince voters to believe in their false world rather than the real one.

That spin has been hard at work in the past few days over the economy. Trump is clearly worried that the Supreme Court is going to find that much of his tariff war is unconstitutional, as the direction of the justices’ questioning in its November 5 hearing suggested. On Monday he claimed that the U.S. would have to pay back “in excess of $2 Trillion Dollars” if the Supreme Court ruled the tariffs unconstitutional, and that “would be a National Security catastrophe.” He blamed “Anarchists and Thugs” for putting the U.S. into a “terrible situation” by challenging his tariffs. Hours later, he increased the number to $3 Trillion—the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget says the number was actually about $195 billion.

Yesterday, White House officials suggested they would never be able to release October’s jobs report or inflation numbers, blaming the Democrats. They did, however, claim that prices are “beginning to drop,” citing DoorDash, the delivery platform, as their source.

Yes, blame the Democrats. That’s all Trump can ever do. Lie, and claim things are a hoax. Lie, and claim everything is great. And lie, and blame the Democrats. The common denominator here is that things are going shitty for the Enshittifier-in-Chief, and his usual is not doing its usual any longer.

Bloomberg reports that 62% of Americans they polled say the cost of everyday items has climbed over the past month and that 55% of employed Americans say they’re worried about losing their job. It also notes, as CNBC economic commenter Carl Quintanilla pointed out, that international stocks are outperforming the U.S. S&P stock index by the widest margin in 16 years. Yesterday the University of Michigan consumer confidence survey hit its lowest reading in 65 years.

Tonight Ana Swanson, Maggie Haberman, and Tyler Pager of the New York Times reported that the administration is attempting to lower food prices by preparing exemptions to tariffs, suggesting that some members of the administration are finally facing the fact that Trump’s fantasy ideology cannot defy reality forever.

‘Muricans are waking up. (Yes, they’re becoming woke, ha ha.) Even MAGAts having FAFO moments are waking up. So are more hard-headed MAGAts. Of course, a large number of them will rally to cheer Trump on to further destruction and destabilization of the nation and world. It’ll take a few rounds to shake them out of their status as True Believers.

Now Trumo is sending ICE to Charlotte, NC. That will probably piss off another large contingent of United States citizens. He’s an absolute fool; does he not realize the optics? But of course, he doesn’t realize the optics, because he’s too deeply embedded in his altered reality to realize the optics. But Guard soldiers are speaking out, telling others that they’re mostly doing nothing on their deployments to American cities. They’re not seeing the destruction and violence Trump claims. The cities aren’t on fire as he claims. The soldiers report mostly being bored. As their narrative grows and spreads, Trump’s failures will accelerate, and supporters will start leaving him in droves. And as that happens, Trump will flail mightily, trying to use the same tactics which he always uses. Those efforts will fail. I predict it’ll even actually hasten Trump’s decline as more abandon him.

It’s just going to take some time.

Wenzda’s Wandering Political Thoughts

Such a firehose of news, I have two and half tons to think about.

First up, a child died of the measles in Texas, and the outbreak is growing. It’d be cynical to exclaim thoughts and prayers. That poor child. Yes, death is part of life, but when death, pain, and sickness can be mitigated but aren’t for religious or political reasons, I feel it. Pumps the cynicism in me up to the surface. News like this is painfully wearying.

Next comes some reflections on the U.S. and NATO. Legally, the U.S. can’t unilaterally withdraw without Congress’s approval. Of course, legally is a quaint notion in PINO Trusk’s worldview. PINO Trusk contiues thumping all over laws and the Constitution. Meanwhile, he can and is undermining the alliance’s intentions and cohesiveness with his bromance with Russia. If PINO Trusk did order troop withdrawals out of NATO bases, where would they be parked? We have military installations around the world, but it’d be a huge logistical challenge, and the ripples from such a decision…oh, the ripples.

The Idaho Capital Sun had a really engrossing article about a local meeting. North Idaho woman forcibly removed from Kootenai County Republican town hall When she exercised her free speech, men without badges who didn’t present identification forcibly removed her.

COEUR d’ALENE — A legislative town hall organized by the Kootenai County Republican Central Committee devolved into chaos Saturday when unidentified, plainclothes security personnel dragged a Post Falls woman from the Coeur d’Alene High School auditorium for heckling legislators.

Though the company that provided security for the event has been identified, town hall organizers and Kootenai County Sheriff Bob Norris have claimed no knowledge of the security personnel or who hired them.

The tale is a whole ‘he said, he said,’ circle thingy with many attempting to deflect and pretend that others were in charge, but there seemed to be a lot of secrecy around the planning and execution. To me, such violent — and secretive — responses by ‘unidentified security’ is an outgrowth of the PINO Trusk thug mentality: bullying others without explanation to get their way. Sure smacks of Gestapo tactics. Really, read the story.

In “Letters from America”, Heather Cox Richardson posted clear, sharp insights and details about the budget resolution action going on in Congress. She begins with a Pete Buttigieg post: “A defining policy battle is about to come to a head in this country. The Republican budget will force everyone—especially Congress and the White House—to make plain whether they are prepared to harm the rest of us in order to fund tax cuts for the wealthiest.”

Ms. Richardson then presents the details. The GOTP wants to cut the deficit. To do so means cutting popular, useful programs while trying to push forward tax cuts for the rich. The GOTP’s entire reasoning process is maligned with flimsy logic and pathetic reasoning. History shows what they’re trying to do will absolutely not work. No matter, they’re too fucking bullheaded about it because they’re bending the knee to PINO Trusk.

I have mixed feelings about it. At this point, if the GOTP gets their way, slashing programs while giving the wealthy tax breaks, they’ll end up with higher deficits and a crumbling economy. Maybe then the MAGAts and others will awaken and demand a halt to the Great Undoing. If they don’t, the Great Shitstorm of 2025 will continue until serious reciprocal waves arrive. See, I’m, like, “We warned you, warned you, and warned you. You insisted that you wanted to fuck around and find out. So here it comes.” I kind of want to let it come, but that strikes me as being personally petty. Yet, based on the evidence so far, I don’t think they’ll learn until consequences jar their lives. I know, it’s a sad situation when it’s come to this.

“Requiem For The West” out of The Dish by Andrew Sullivan is the third piece which hooked my attention today. Mr. Sullivan writes, “We only saw Donald Trump’s foreign policy darkly in his first term — constrained, as he was, by a handful of white-knuckled Republicans in the executive branch. Now we see it face to face. It’s a vision where international law disappears, great powers divide up the planet into spheres of influence, and the strong always control the weak. It’s Trump’s vision of domestic politics as well. And of life.

“Control, plunder, gloat. This is the Trump way.”

That is the Trump way, along with using the gullible and low-informed. Trump has a history of breaking his word, laws, and contracts. He’s not a good businessman but he’s a really terrific liar and con man. In PINO Trusk’s world, “Zelensky is a monster but Putin is our friend. As for concessions from Russia for its unprovoked violation of an internationally recognized border? None that I can see, apart from stopping the war. There’s the nub, too. PINO Trusk is so fucking adept at fooling people. Just give him a little material and he twists and hammers it until it seems like an absolute truth. He did that with President Biden’s age and inflation during the 20204 campaign. And yeah, President Biden didn’t put up much resistance. He’s done the same with ‘cutting fraud and waste’ through Doge now. Of course as so many have pointed out before, it’s not really about the inflation, President Biden’s age, or many of the other things which PINO Trusk said during his campaign: it’s about being racist and sexist. It’s about power and money.

Many of us see that.

Too many don’t.

Tuesday’s Political Thoughts

I’m often going on about Republican lies. Some of them are breathtaking. Heather Cox Richardson brought facts about it to the table in her well-written “Letters From An American” column on September 29, 2024. I read it yesterday and then again today.

Ms. Richardson points out that in Tennessee, Republicans positioned statements about Federal relief after Hurriccane Helene as though President Biden had sat on signing it. The truth was that the Republican government didn’t declare and ask for assistance until after disastrous flooding had taken place. President Biden authorized the assistance as soon as it was requested.

The delay was caused because “…in keeping with an April joint resolution from the Republican-dominated Tennessee legislature calling for 31 days of prayer and fasting to “seek God’s hand of mercy healing on Tennessee,” Lee proclaimed September 27 “a voluntary Day of Prayer & Fasting.”

Other signs of GOP duplicity and lying are brought up. Ms. Richardson writes, “In the past two days, Republican lawmakers who just days ago voted against funding the federal government and who have railed against government spending have been out front claiming credit for getting federal disaster relief.”

Yep; that’s the Republican M.O.

She then brings up a classic GOP ploy, trying to steal credit for something Democrats did. In this case, it’s insulin prices.

“Republican presidential nominee Trump and Republican vice presidential nominee Ohio senator J.D. Vance have been claiming that it was Trump who capped the cost of insulin at $35 a month. Vance has accused Vice President Kamala Harris of lying when the Biden administration takes credit for it. Vance’s statement, itself, is a breathtaking lie. Trump signed an executive order in July 2020 establishing a temporary, voluntary program that let some Medicare Part D prescription drug plans cap monthly insulin copayments at $35. The program ran from January 1, 2021, through December 31, 2023. 

“The Inflation Reduction Act, which Biden signed into law in August 2022, required all Part D plans to charge no more than $35 a month for all covered insulin products. All Democrats in the House and the Senate voted for the Inflation Reduction Act, and all Republicans—including J.D. Vance—voted against it. “

These lies are only surface stains. Heather Cox Richardson goes into depth about the lies Republicans are pushing about women dying because of the anti-abortion laws that deny them proper care; lies about Haitians and immigrants; lies that the GOP are spreading about education.

For the GOP, the end game is clear: lie to instill fear and hatred. Lie to stay in power. Whatever it takes.

I hope you’ll take time to read Heather Cox Richardson’s complete column. The only way we’ll ever overcome the fear and hatred is through the light and power of knowledge. It’s a never-ending challenge.

Happy Anniversary!

June 16th, as Heather Cox Richardson reminds us, is the anniversary of the Watergate break-in of 1972. She provides a succinct recap of that time in history. President Nixon was eventually impeached for obstruction of justice, abuse of power, and contempt of Congress, and and then resigned before he could be tried, blaming the press on the way out. Then she brings it home to May 30, 2024, when Former President Donald Trump was found guilty on 34 criminal counts by a jury of his peers, confirming that no one is above the law.

Ms Richardson is a strong writer and that recap comes at a needed time. While the Supreme Court wrestles with the question of Presidential immunity and Trump’s supporters insist that his prosecution was politically motivated, this history lesson reminds us that we’ve wrestled this dragon before.

Saturday’s Theme Music

Mood: lifted

Blue sky fall fever is settling over Ashlandia, where the trees are green and the sunshine is warm. 69 F on this Saturday morning, the expected high for September 9, 2023, will climb into the mid to upper 80s, depending upon exactly where you stand in the valley.

Got my car back from its repairs. All seems well. Continuing to prepare for our trip for a nephew’s wedding in PA. All the marriages in this family on my side, sixteen, and this will only be the second one with my attendance, the other being a niece a decade again, if you don’t count Dad’s second marriage. Have attended one marriage on my wife’s side, which is 20%. Couldn’t attend most of the others as I was outside the U.S. on military business.

Reading more today about the slow speed overthrow of democracy in America. Since Twitter went to X and throw off its controls, Chinese and Russian disinformation bots have ramped up production and influence. I read this in Heather Cox Richardson’s “Letters from an American” for September 7, 2023. Here are some of her pertinent words:

“A report published last week by the European Commission, the body that governs the European Union, says that when X, the company formerly known as Twitter, got rid of its safety standards, Russian disinformation on the site took off. Lies about Russia’s war against Ukraine spread to at least 165 million people in the E.U. and allied countries like the U.S., and garnered at least 16 billion views. The study found that Instagram, Telegram, and Facebook, all owned by Meta, also spread pro-Kremlin propaganda that uses hate speech and boosts extremists. 

“The report concluded that “the Kremlin’s ongoing disinformation campaign not only forms an integral part of Russia’s military agenda, but also causes risks to public security, fundamental rights and electoral processes” in the E.U.” 

Coupled with Google and Meta’s decisions that they’re going to allow AI generated fake political ads — with suitable ‘disclosures’, of course — and the sea of confusion and disagreement is bound to overtake us as surely as a storm surge during a hurricane in Florida. But don’t worry, we’ll have shiny toys to play with.

But today’s most heartbreaking story has to be the quake which slammed Morocco. Over 1000 dead at this point. Rescue missions and supply deliveries will ramp up soon. Hope there are no aftershocks.

The Neurons have gifted me with “Wait” by White Lion (1987) in the morning mental music stream (Trademark classified). Again, I don’t know what kicked the song in there. White Lion was a big hair band with a sound similar to several other bands of the era and a strong Eddie van Halen guitar influence. I haven’t heard this song in years and years, I don’t believe. It was never deeply in my hearing rotation so its arrival this morning is startling.
