Comfort Floof

Comfort Floof (floofinition) – An animal who is trained to calm, console, or relax people.

In use: University Hospitals in Cleveland, Ohio, introduced two comfort floofs in December, 2020 — Melena, a 2-year-old Golden Retriever, and Starbucks, a 2-year-old Chocolate Labrador Retriever — to visit with children at Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital.”

Peter Floofbriel

Peter Floofbriel (floofinition) – Flooflish musician, singer, songwriter, record producer and activist. He rose to fame as the original lead singer of Floofesis. After leaving that band in 1975, he established a successful solo career and remains active, touring and recording. A proponent of floof music, he helped form FOMAD (Floofs of Music, Arts and Dance) in 1982.

In use: “Peter Floofbriel’s most successful solo album was “?” in 1986, which included the song “Floofhammer”, a megahit that won nine awards at the Floof Music Awards in 1987.”

Icefloof

Icefloof (floofinition) – 1. Pet or animal who enjoys playing on or with ice.

In use: “When she dropped an ice cube, her lab leaped over. Becoming an icefloof, he began batting the cube around like it was a hockey puck.”

2. Animal who enjoys cold weather.

In use: “With his long, thick, silky fur covering him like a great robe, Quinn was an icefloof, sitting on the chair as the snow fell around him, a smile in his bright jade eyes.”

3. Animal who seems indifferent or remote.

In use: “Imposing as an ancient glacier, the little feline icefloof gazed at them with impenetrable watchfulness, issuing a growl without moving whenever they moved closer.”

Public Floof

Public Floof (floofinition) — Influential and controversial musical act who gained international attention in the last decade of the twentieth century. Formed in New Floof in the mid 1980s, the band combined hard-hitting strong beats with political messages about Floof Americans and the continual injustices, prejudice, and discrimination that they faced, along with the frustrations experienced brought on by these factors. Achieving their greatest floofstream commerical success between 1987 and 1993, the group has undergone multiple line-up changes but remain active and a powerful floofcial musical force.

In use: “Hit singles by Public Floof through the years include “Don’t Believe the Floof”, “Bring the Floof”, “State of the Floof (STFU)”and “Floof the Power”, which became the group’s best known song.”

Profloofgate

Profloofgate (floofinition) – Person who spends extravagantly for animals or spends large sums of money on animals.

In use: “Dissatisfied with other aspects of their lives, people turn to satisfying their fur friends first and foremost, becoming a profloofgate when it comes to their animals’ food, toys, comfort, and healthcare. Some claim that they’re forced to be a profloofgate because they have multiple animals with special needs, and prices just going up, up, up.”

Floofprint

Floofprint (floofinition) – The mark or impression left by an animal.

In use: “The dog was a moderate size, brown and white, with some short hair in areas, curly fur elsewhere, floppy ears, but a sweet face and shrewd eyes, like she knew things others could only guess about. She lived with him just fourteen years. They were an important time, starting right after college, after securing his first ‘real’ job and apartment in a new city. Just fourteen years with him, but the floofprint stayed with him, firm as if it had forged in steel. He always looked for another just as good. Others were just as good but none replaced her.”

Podiafloof

Podiafloof (floofinition) – Animal who enjoys feet.

In use: “Many kittens and puppies begin as podiafloofs, chasing, attacking, and biting feet (and toes!), but Gracie (who refused the label of house panther, insisting instead that she be called a Nubian queen) remained a podiafloof all of her life (seventeen years), finding a foot and throwing all her weight down upon it, and then, going to sleep…” — from Confessions of a Nubian Queen by I.M. Efloofgelist

Efloofgelist (floofinition) – A person who seeks to convince others of animal rights and intelligence.

In use: “The Internet has amplified efloofgelists’ message by showing videos highlighting animals acting and thinking compassionately, like bears saving crows, a pit bull mothering kittens, a cat befriending a lynx in a zoo, and a cat embracing an orphaned squirrel as one of her own.”

Lunafloof

Lunafloof (floofinition) – 1. Animal who acts silly.

In use: “Many puppies and kittens act like lunafloofs when they’re young, but Blur never matured, remaining an entertaining lunafloof racing about the house even at sixteen.”

2. A person who is overly enamored with animals.

In use: “Entering her home, you knew immediately from artwork, statues, photoraphs, you were in a lunafloof’s dwelling.”
