Nirfloofa

Nirfloofa (floofinition) – 1. A transcendental state humans feel when with an animal in which there is no suffering, desire, or a sense of self. 2. A transcendental state that animals enter when extremely satisfied, or high on natural herbs, such as catnip.

In use: “After sitting down and sighing to let the tension and stress of the day’s work and subsequent drive home drain out of him, the dog came over and put her head on his leg. After a few minutes of stroking the dog’s soft fur, nirfloofa came over him, and a new sigh, of satisfaction, slipped out.”

Polterfloof

Polterfloof (floofinition) – A usually mischievous animal, often thought to be a ghost or apparition, held to be responsible for unexplained noises.

In use: “They thought it was a polterfloof banging on the window, because every time they checked the window, nothing was there. But the camera showed it was a young white cat banging on the window and then running away when they came out. With a little patience and kibble, they captured the little goof and gave him a home. He always continued his polterfloof ways, though.”

Floofcabulary

Floofcabulary (floofinition) – The body of words used for communication between animals and humans.

In use: “Her floofcabulary was limited to a few human words, such as snack, hungry, bedtime, kiss, etc., which was enough for her doxxie and her to get along quite well.”

Busyfloof

Busyfloof (floofinition) – A meddling, prying, officious, or inquisitive animal.

In use: “Jorge was constantly underfoot, which was a problem, as he was a large, white dog with a fluffy white tail that waved liked a conquering army’s flag. They tried to dissuade him, but the busyfloof was involved in everything from fixing meals to changing diapers, greeting people at the door, answering the phone, and typing on the computer.”

Thunderfloof

Thunderfloof (floofinition) – Animal who makes a lot of noise when it runs.

Note: Not to be confused with floofthunder (the rumble of many animals running).

In use: “Pound for pound, the little tuxedo cat was a thunderfloof, making more noise running through the halls than any of the dogs did.”

Flooftical

Flooftical (floofinition) – Of or relating to addressing and coping with animals.

In use: “On the flooftical front, he learned to make himself small and quiet, to hold his hand out to be smelled, and to let the animal come to him on their terms.”

Flooftropolis

Flooftropolis (floofinition) – 1. Any city with a large animal population. 2. (slang) Expression used to denote any place with a large animal population.

In use: “All the neighborhood cats came around to hang out in Lori’s yard, which was funny, because she had a parrot and two dogs, but no cat. Neighbors began referring to it as flooftropolis.”

Floofabout

Floofabout (floofinition) – Unskilled housepet.

In use: “Mice, birds, and spiders were completely safe in Samantha’s house and yard, as her cats were floofabouts, inclined to loafing in the sunshine with sleepy eyes.”

Floofvious

Floofvious (floofintion) – 1. Easily perceived or understood by an animal. 2. Clear, self-evident, or apparent to an animal, especially a housepet.

In use: “When the couple opened a bag of chips to munch on while watching the movie, the cats and dog queued, expecting the floofvious.”

Floofpool

Floofpool (floofinition) – A vessel or tub, usually designed for holding water, waste, or laundry, that animals (typically housepets) employ as a bed.

In use: “She didn’t know that the cats were using her laundry basket as a floofpool until she tossed a pair of jeans in, and tremors went through the pile of clothes, followed by an irritated meow.”
