Coyfloof

Coyfloof (floofinition) – 1. Animal that’s a hybrid of several species. The term is adapted from the expression, coywolf, the hybrid animal (part wolf, part coyote, part dog) that’s developed in the last decade in the United States.

In use: “An offspring of a male lion and a female tiger, a liger is a natural coyfloof that’s generally larger than either of its parents.”

2. A shy animal.

In use: “Even though she was large (for a housecat) at twenty-one pounds, she was a coyfloof, willing to be loving to her human, but shunning everyone else by hiding in a closet whenever someone came to the door.”

Bullfloof

Bullfloof (floofinition) 1. A male herbivore who is accepted and kept as a pet.

In use: “Seymour was Marshall’s bullfloof, a rescue who would always be his buddy, and no amount of exasperation from his father about how wrong it was would ever change that.”

2. Nonsense or foolish talk about animals.

In use: “Many people still adhere to the bullfloof that animals are dump, incapable of empathy, and lack the feelings of a human.”

3. Animal nonsense that they expect people to take seriously.

In use: “The house was a wreck, and the cat and the dog, side-by-side on the sofa, tried to sell the bullfloof that they had no idea what’d happened by giving wide-eyed, innocent stares of the, “Who, me?” variety.”

Cyberfloof

Cyberfloof (floofinition) – Any activity involving a computer and an animal, especially housepets.

In use: “A cyberfloof isn’t a pet that’s using a computer to commit a crime (although many animals seen in pictures and videos on the net often steal our hearts).”

“Cats and dogs often turn themselves into cyberfloofs, sitting on keyboards, or blocking monitors, because they’ve noticed that this other creature is stealing their human’s attention.”

Floofiage

Floofiage (floofinition) – 1. A representation of animals for architectural ornamentation.

In use: “Intricately carved from a single fallen oak tree, a floofiage on her front door greeted visitors.”

2. A cluster or aggregate of animals and their fur.

In use: “Every morning when sunshine spilled into the living room, floofiage formed in the center and grew.”

Flooftricity

Flooftricity (floofinition) – 1. Current and discharge animals create when being petted.

In use: “One must be careful when stroking a pet’s soft fur, as it arouses their flooftricity, and you’re likely to experience sparking.”

2. The mutual attraction between two or more animals, or between animals and people.

In use: “When she came home, the flooftricity jumped sky-high as her dogs bounded to her to kiss her face and her cats rubbed against her legs.”

Kerfloofle

Kerfloofle (floofinition) – A minor disturbance among housepets.

In use: “The bird mimicked the sound of a can opening, starting a kerfloofle as the cats and dogs galloped to the kitchen to eat.”

Floofmosphere

Floofmosphere (floofinition) – The air of interest and attention in a locality dominated by animals, especially housepets.

In use: “When she opened a bag of cookies, the floofmosphere changed dramatically; sleeping cats and dogs opened their eyes, turned their heads, pricked up their ears, and waited.”

Flooftagonist

Flooftagonist (floofinition) – The animal who is the principal character in a work of fiction.

In use: “Enzo, a dog, is the flooftagonist in The Art of Racing in the Rain, a novel about a man’s life, and the dog’s role in his relationships.”

Centrifloofgal

Centrifloofgal (floofinition) – Proceeding or acting in a direction toward an animal that is the center or axis for all activities.

In use: “Many households organize along centrifloofgal patterns as pets (and their relationships) to their people dictate (or limit) plans.”

“Centrifloofgal force often stalled laundry days as pets climbed into baskets of freshly-laundered clothes and napped, too sweet to be disturbed.”
