Floofsurp (floofinition) – for an animal to seize and hold objections, locations, or food in possession by force or without right.
In use: “Thowing a hissy fit, the fierce little cat floofsurped the big St. Bernard’s bed, leaving the huge canine floofmmoxed.”
Happy day of Christmas Eve. It’s a sunny-cloudy-foggy-snowy-misty Friday this December 23, 2021. Lovely to gaze up at the snowed-in mountains and the white-topped evergreens. Snow levels are still a few thousand feet above us. Weather services said that’s gonna change, with snow levels dropping sufficiently for us to get one to three inches in the next twenty-four hours.
Temperature is 34 F. Sunrise kicked in at 7:38 AM and the sun will vacate our immediate airspace at 4:43 PM. A high of 42 is hoped for and a low of 30 is in the charts.
I was out driving in the weather yesterday. Went to dinner at some friends’ home — they provided salad and chili, perfect for the weather, and we provided an apple tart and cornbread, though I confess, I didn’t prepare anything (my wife made the cornbread), and the tart came from TJ’s. Cold and rainy outside, with dusk imminent, I began enjoying the 1979 Gary Numan song, “Cars”, in my mental music stream. It remained in the morning stream so I put it up as the day’s theme music. The song has that 80s robotic-techno vibe (yes, I know it came out in 1979, but music eras aren’t clearly defined by calendars).
I wish happy holidays for you, no matter what you observe (okay, I do draw the line at human and animal sacrifices, and don’t tell me about what anyone used to do), with good health, happiness, and joy. It’s hard to reach the trifecta but please keep trying. Stay positive, test negative, wear a durn mask as needed, and get the jabs when you can. Here’s the music. I’m gonna go rustle up some coffee. Floof Accompli (floofinition) – A thing accomplished by an animal and apparently irreversible.
In use: “By the time she paid attention to what was going on, the dog had edged onto her lap, put down his head, and gone to sleep. Accepting the floof accompli, she stayed still except to stroke his face, unwilling to disturb him, even though she had things to do.”
Floofpass (floofinition) – Enter another animal’s territory or property without permission.
In use: “Daisy went to her bed for her daily nap only to discover some new little feline furball was floofpassing.”
Floofsume (floofinition) – 1. To include or place an animal within something larger or more comprehensive.
In use: “Cats, dogs, birds, goats, pets in general, and domestic animals, are often floofsumed as floofs.”
2. Human or humans using large amounts of resources on animals, especially pets.
In use: “People with a sick pet often find their days floofsumed by helping their fur friend recover.
3. Getting preoccupied with animals or animal-related events, action, or information.
In use: “Many folks find their time floofsumed by watching amazing animal videos on the web.”
Luminal Floof (floofinition) – An animal at the threshold of change of life or situation, especially those who have endured and are starting anew under fresh circumstances.
In use: “The luminal floof, nominally a five-year-old cat appeared older, aged by years on the street, enduring winters, dodging traffic, and begging for food, still awaited a name at its new home, but took advantage of the quiet and secure warmth to stretch, yawn, and sleep.”
Obsfloofian (floofinition) – An animal who is black as obsidian.
In use: “Obsfloofians such as black cats and dogs are often awarded names like Onyx or Midnight, but seeking a new direction, Karla named her obsfloofian, “T’Challa”, an homage to her favorite movie and her favorite actor.”
Profloofgate (floofinition) – Person who spends extravagantly for animals or spends large sums of money on animals.
In use: “Dissatisfied with other aspects of their lives, people turn to satisfying their fur friends first and foremost, becoming a profloofgate when it comes to their animals’ food, toys, comfort, and healthcare. Some claim that they’re forced to be a profloofgate because they have multiple animals with special needs, and prices just going up, up, up.”
