Floof-eyes

Floof-eyes (catfinition) – Internet slang for a cat’s loving, enticing look, often accompanied with purring, and sometimes with kneading, or “making biscuits”.

In use: “She was on the edge of running late when her big Norwegian jumped onto the table in front of her and fixed his green floof-eyes on her. With a sigh, she began scratching his chin, accepting, she was going to be late. At least she had a good excuse, damn his floof-eyes.”

Catvuum

Catvuum (catfinition) – feline who eats fast and leaves the food bowl(s) empty.

In use: “She wasn’t a large tortoise shell, despite her reputation as a catvuum who would eat anything and everything.”

Ménage à floof

Ménage à floof (catfinition) – a domestic arrangement of two or more cats living in a loving and supportive relationship.

In use: “She’d always been a unifloofian because of Flash’s attitude, but Flash took to the two new fosters and a ménage à floof resulted.”

Floofalrous

Floofalrous (catfinition) – characteristic, of, or relating to floof behavior; marked by subtle grace, watchfulness, and a pleasing nature.

In use: “With floofalrous movement, the small ginger tabby walked in through the open front door, looked around the room, and found a chair where he made himself comfortable.”

Floofculate

Floofculate (catfinition) – a tendency of cat fur to aggregate or come together in lumps or loose clusters.

In use: “During the week, the cat’s fur floofculates into little replicas of the cats hiding under furniture and appliances.”

Offloof

Offloof (catfinition) – a cat’s kittens or young; a feline’s descendant(s).

In use: “Her offloof all looked like mini-me versions of herself to every last whisker and her lovely eyes.”

Inflooftation

Inflooftation (catfinition) – an implicit or implied act that cats interpret as an invitation for them to join the activity.

In use: “He sat down to read a novel, an inflooftation for all of the home’s cats to come get on his lap.”

Floofbit

Floofbit (catfinition) – a biological quantum component that helps cats track their essential activities. A floofbit reminds a cat when it needs to nap, and how long, along with when they should be active and energetic. Many cats put off being energetic until their floofbit warns them that they won’t meet their activity goal. This usually results in a sudden floofzy of dashing around with a somewhat crazy glint in their eyes.

In use: “Tucker’s floofbit informed him that he needed to nap to meet his daily requirements, so he immediately put his head down and closed his eyes, forcing everyone to walk around him.”

Catalect

Catalect (catfinition) – feline dialect. Cats develop unique catalects to communicate with the cats and people closest to them. These catalects often vary from house to house. Some evidence suggest that broader catalects exist by breed.

In use: “Mrrp in our household catalect is a greeting similar to “hello” that the felines in our household use to greet their humans.”

Pourpet

Pourpet (catfinition) – a floof-word that seems to translate to mean, “For me?”

In Use: “He put a bowl of food down in front of the long-haired tabby. Looking at it, the cat said, “Pourpet?” Then the feline moved in with his tail up and began eating.”
