Flooftibule
Flooftibule (catfinition) – a cubby where cats like to sit to survey situations.
In use: “Samson settled on top of the fence corner as his flooftibule at the new house, making the space his own, as long as weather permitted.”
Catversation
Catversation (catfinition) – an informal conversation between a cat and one or more other cats, humans, birds, or other animals.
In use: “The feline struck up a catversation with the kittens on the screen, sniffing as he spoke, and looking behind the laptop to see if they were there.”
Floofematics
Floofematics (catfinition) – the abstract science of trying to balance what you do for your cat(s) and what they do for you.
In use: “Tired of cleaning up hairballs, answering summons to give them treats and catnip, and cleaning potatoes out of the litter box, he sat down with a glass of wine to review the floofematics of the arrangement.”
Floofcifier
Floofcifier (catfinition) –
In use: “He found that treats and catnip were the perfect floofcifier for three of the four cats, and that was enough to maintain the peace.”
Panda Floof
Panda Floof (catfinition) – a black and white cat that looks like a panda bear.
In use: “Looking out the window during a pause, he spied a cat making its way across the street toward his house. As the cat reached the sidewalk, it turned and paused, revealing its resemblance to a panda floof.”
Floof of Drawers
Floof of Drawers (catfinition) – a cat settled in furniture designed to hold clothes.
In use: “Whenever she opened a drawer to get clothes out, her calico feline friend leaped in, asserting her role as the floof of drawers.”
Laissez-floof
Laissez-floof (catfinition) – a feline practice of deliberately not interfering with or bothering other animals.
In use: “The second reason Quinn is such a good member of a multiple cat household is his laissez-floof attitude toward other cats.”
Floof Talk
Floof Talk (catfinition) – an intense, usually brief speech a person gives their cat (and sometimes, dog) to modify or change behavior.
In use: “We’re going to have a little floof talk today,” she said to the watching cat as did every morning. “What are we not going to do today? We are not going to steal mommy’s breakfast. We are not going to throw up on mommy’s clothes, and we’re not going to destroy mommy’s mail and papers, right? Right. What are we going to do? We’re going to be a good little kitty, aren’t we? Yeah, right.”
Floof-timing
Floof-timing (catfinition) – to betray a cat by friendship or attention with another cat; to deceive a cat.
In use: “When she came into the house, her cat stopped short of greeting her to lean forward and sniff her pants legs. “Yes, I petted another cat,” she said. Giving her a hurt look, he turned his back on his floof-timing person and walked away, refusing to answer her when she called his name.”
