Superfloofuity (catfinition) – immoderate indulgence in felines; excessive decoration or obsession with cats.
In use: “By 2015, two million videos featuring cats were posted on YouTube. With each averaging over twelve thousand hits, the numbers make the case for the Internet becoming superfloofuity.”
Afflooftion (catfinition) – a person, cat, or other animal who demonstrates affection toward other animals
In use: “Although a misanthrope, she demonstrated great afflooftion for her three cats and two pit bulls, along with any cat or dog she encountered, bestowing kisses, strokes and soothing words on all. Woe to any human who expected the same for them. All she gave them was a hard scowl.”
Floofiosa (catfinition) – member of the secret society of cats called the floofia. Floofiosa live under a strict code of floofmerta, an honor system that calls for no cat to ever betray another.
In use: “With his big body and thick black fur, Boo looked more like a small black bear than a floofiosa.”
Lucfloofbration (catfinition) – a cat’s intense study of an object, being, or situation.
In use: “The jay landed just outside the open window with a flutter of wings and a sharp squawk. The three cats turned as one and entered lucfloofbration of the bird on the branch beyond the screen.”
Floofcentric (catfinition) – thinking of cats, and the impact of activities on cats, before or to the exclusion of others; putting a cat and their needs at the center of one’s planning or life; a feline’s attitude that they are the center of attention or activity.
In use: “A floofcentric room, cat toys littered the floor, a cat tree was in one corner, and a cat condo inhabited another corner, while cat beds, a litter box, and cat dishes were set in other places.”
B.F.: Before Floof, sometimes referred to as Before Feline; a.k.a. B.C.: Before Cat (catfinition) – the period of time in someone’s life before a feline starts living with them. The use of B.F. has grown in recent years because of the confusion that arises from Before Christ (B.C.) commonly applied to years in some dating systems.
In use: “B.F., he slept through the night without disturbance, and walked through the house in the dark without fear of stepping on a sleeping animal or their gifts. It all changed A.F.”
Floofzing (catfinition) – lounging around, half awake, in a comfortable position, but not doing anything; imitating a cat’s relaxed style of draping yourself on furniture.
In use: “One eye partially opened but the other one firmly shut, the big black and white tom was floofzing in the sun on the sofa.”
Floofiavellianism (catfinition) – a feline employing great cunning or duplicity to achieve their goals.”
In use: “People reading about floofiavellianism often scoffed. Didn’t most cats practice floofiavellianism?”
Amewsverate (catfinition) – to meow positively or earnestly.
In use: “When he asked, “Do you want a treat,” the black cat amewsverated, which he took to mean yes.”
