Catdow

Catdow (Catfinition): A terrible affliction that causes humans to lose track of time and forget what they were doing while in the presence of felines. The term, coined by Professor Felinus by combing the words, “cat” and “shadow” and dropping the first syllable of the latter, was created to explain what happens to people when cats are around.

“It’s like cats cast a shadow,” Professor Felinus said in a Cat Mystery interview in nineteen ninety-seven. “People caught in a cat shadow, or catdow, forget what they’re doing and focus on what the cat is doing, or what the cat might need. The effect is amplified by the number of cats, or if the cats look directly at the people, and the people see them. Worse, of course, is if the cats are kittens. People have been lost in the catdow for hours when kittens are encountered.”

Sympcatico

Sympcatico (Catfinition): A feline or felines and human with a link that seems telepathic.

In Use: “She and the tabby were sympcatico, moving in silent coordination and companionship as meals were taken, books were read, and the sky was watched with reflective eyes.”

Today’s Fake Bumper Sticker

Saw this bumper sticker yesterday:

“This year will go down in history. For the first time a civilized nation has full gun registration! Our streets will be safer, our police more efficient, and the world will follow our lead into the future!
— Adolf Hitler, 1935”

I researched it to verify Hitler said it.

No; he didn’t, or, if he did, it was never documented anywhere. Like other alt news or fake news (see Pizzagate and Jade Helm 15), there are a lot of words generating smoke and fear, but very little truth.

The NRA and gun proponents want you to believe that gun control helped the Nazi Party rise to power.

No; it didn’t.

The Weimar Republic proceeding the Nazi rise had stricter gun control; but the idea that if people had guns, they would have resisted is absurd, as Hitler had high popular support.

Alex Seitz-Wald at Salon had an article that provides an insightful summary.

Tumblecat

Tumblecat (Catfinition): Feline that drifts lazily around, laying, sitting, washing, grooming, and watching, apparently without any intention in the world except to be.

In Use: “Princess progressed like a tumblecat being blown by a cosmic wind that only she felt, drifting through poses and activities without urgency or plan.”

Caft

Caft (Catfinition): A deceased creature brought in and left by a cat.

In Use: “Brenda and Jon found two cafts this week, a rat and a vole. The cafter preferred remaining anonymous. Perhaps more than one cafter was responsible. They would never know. The cafters weren’t talking.”

Supercatisopportunisticandexploitingnprecocious

Supercatisopportunisticandexploitingnprecocious (Catfinition): Supposedly the longest word in the world about a feline, the word means an amazing and clever cat who will take advantage of people and situations.

In Use: “Seeing the cat leap up onto the table, pick up the sandwich, give him a look and then jump down and race away, Michael laughed, saying, “Why, you little supercatisopportunisticnexploitingandprecocious.””

I hope I spelled it right. I couldn’t find it in any dictionary.

Catcierge

Catcierge (Catfinition): A person responsible for serving a cat or cats’ needs.

In Use: “The cats had the catcierge running about, providing treats, feeding them kibble, and letting them in and out of the house. He felt exhausted after forty-five minutes.”

Meowminator

Meowminator (Catfinition): A feline whose mewing keeps coming on, like the Terminators in the movie series.

In Use: “Following Michael around, the meowminator made two meows for every step, racing past Michael in anticipation of his moves and doubling back when he was wrong, until Michael finally broke down and gave the little floofnut the treats he wanted.”

Footcat

Footcat (Catfinition): A feline who likes to sit on people’s feet as a strategy for getting attention or rewards.

In Use: “Rocky, a handsome European blotched tabby, was a true footcat. Whenever Michael stopped, the hefty footcat would rest on Michael’s foot, as if he was an anchor to keep Michael from walking away from him until he was petted or given a treat.”

Flurk

Flurk (1) (Catfinition): A quirky cat.

In Use: “Michael watched Papi cross the back yard. You never knew what the little ginger flurk was going to do next.”

Flurk (2) (Catfinition): A cat that likes to lurk around areas; the actions or activities of a cat who lurks.

In Use: “Mirage flurks around behind the drapes, waiting for unsuspecting humans to pass by so she could leap onto their feet.”
