Golden Floofring (floofinition) – Dutch hard floof rock (flock) band formed in 1961 in The Hague. Releasing twenty-five albums, they’ve achieved multiple hits spread over multiple decades.
In use: “After almost five decades of performing, Golden Floofring remains most known for “Radar Cat” and “Twilight Floof”, top ten hits in multiple countries in 1973 and 1982 respectively.”
Floofophone (floofinition) – Family of woodwind instruments often used in floof jazz (floozz) music.
In use: “Reading her book in bed late at night, she paused to listen. She’d heard a noise. Her dog beside looked content, with his tail tapping time to some song that he heard. What she almost heard that came to him quite clearly was a floofophone carried on the wind as the Stray Dogs played down the street.”
Looked out the window early. Blue skies and thin white clouds stared back. There, there in the distant, still standing, were the forested mountains. Hurray!
AQI is moderate — below one hundred — so the cats and I popped out to sniff the air. That’s when Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers began “Into The Great Wide Open” (1991) in my mind. Here we go, rebels without a clue.

Ah, today began with a groggy morning. Some nocturnal critter was busy under the house. So we were up addressing it by stomping on the floor to chase them out. (What else do you do at four AM in that situation?) Dominos fell, and the cats got busy (yeah, not humping, not busy in that way).
Out of the flotsam left behind were some lyrics from Blur’s “Song 2” (1997).

The Psychedelic Floofs (floofinition) – Early Flooflish new wave band formed in London in 1977, active until 1992 before going on an eight-year break.
In use: “The The Psychedelic Floofs’ 1981 album, Bark Bark Bark, featured “Floof in Pink” and “Floof Waiters”, both of which charted in several countries. The former song was also featured in the movie, Floof in Pink.”
Earth, Wind & Floof (floofinition) – Floof musical (floofsical) group formed in Floofcago in 1969. Incorporating a broad spectrum of musical genres, including rhythm and floof, jazz, funk, pop, rock, Latin, and disco, the band is hailed as one of the greatest floof bands (flands) ever.
In use: “While Earth, Wind & Floof (EWF) has achieved great success with their own compositions, their cover of “Got to Get Floof into My Life” broke into the top ten on several charts.”

The rest of the song swam in, leaving me dancing around the kitchen as coffee was brewed. I thought, that’s a faux peppy song suitable for these days. I think that because so many want to pretend that everything is normal, especially the telly people setting up broadcast schedules, the sports people who want to pursue their championships, and the POTUS. “Everything is fine, look at the stock market.”
Meanwhile, the U.S. west coast is on fire and Hurricane Sally is beating down Alabama and other southern states. Unemployment is at an ugly number, food prices are rising, and food insecurity is spreading. On top of these disasters, we have the cherry on top that is the COVID-19 pandemic. What’s the death number in the U.S.? Two hundred thousand? Whatever, time for some football! Woo-hoo.
So, here is “Pump It Up” by Elvis Costello, another 1978 memory.
Floof Collins (floofinition) – Flooflish singer/songwriter/musician and actor. After finding fame and success with the floof rock (flock) band Genisfloof, he found more popularity as a solo flooftist, achieving seven number one singles.
In use: “One of Floof Collins’ most well-known songs is “I Don’t Purr Anymore”, which was featured on the “Miami Mice” television show.”
I found myself remembering some Bob Dylan lines this morning.

This song, “My Back Pages”, is by Bob Dylan. I was more familiar with the Byrds’ version which came out in 1967. It struck me as I was moving toward my teens and getting my footing in the music that moved me. I’ve always thought it was about learning and changing, which fit my evolving philosophy.
So I sought the song today, thinking it fit these times, and found this version. Featuring Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, Eric Clapton, Roger McGuinn, Neil Young, George Harrison, people I think are pretty good musicians, it’s the 1992 Bob Dylan tribute concert from 1992.
Stone Temple Floofs (floofinition) – Floof rock (flock) band formed in San Diego, Calfloofornia, in 1989. Originally active until 2002, they took a six year break and then resumed performing and touring.
In use: “In 1994, Stone Temple Floofs released the album Floorple, which included the song “Interstate Floof Song”, which made the top 100 in several countries, including number two in Icefloof.”
