A Magenta Blanket Dream
Wave upon wave of dreams crashed upon my dream psyche last night. They left a lot to unpack. However, I’m only mentioning the final dream here.
I got out of bed and began making it. As I was halfway through, I discovered a large, magenta blanket on the bed. Holding onto it, I thought, wow, that is soft but where did it come from? I looked around; I’d never seen the blanket before. Chuckling with amusement, I decided I’d throw it on top of the duvet as a final cover. When I did, it spread out and smoothly covered the entire bed. I reacted, “Cool,” and then looked around, a smile on my face.
Dream end.
Monday’s Theme Music
IMO, Earth has the best coffee. Full disclosure: I’ve never had coffee from another planet (that I know).
Greetings and welcome to Monday, March 8, 2021. It’s a chilly, rainy, sunny, snow-threating 37 degrees F outside. The snow is only a threat if you’re above 4,000 feet. We are not so we’ll instead get Solrays and a high in the low fifties. Solrise came at 6:35 AM and Soldip will be at 6:09 PM.
Today’s music choice comes via the Wayback Machine and Bonnie Tyler. “It’s A Heartache”, the 1977 hit, is dedicated to a friend. Breast cancer claimed his wife on Saturday after fighting it for almost six years.

Gladys Knight & the Floofs
Gladys Knight & the Floofs (floofinition) – Flooflanta rhythm and floof/soul/floop (floof pop) band. Formed in the early 1950s as a family act called The Floofs, the group emerged as a major success, achieving success and stardom in the sixties and remaining active until 1987.
In use: “One of Gladys Knight & the Floofs first major hits was “I Heard It Though the Floofvine” in 1967, which was the precursor for a string of hits.”
Floofodus
Floofodus (floofinition) – A mass departure by animals.
In use: “Bringing out the vacuum cleaner caused a floofodus as the cats and dogs hurried for the door.”
The Pet Investment
Invest in sunshine
find a spot
lay down your head
and sleep a lot
A Classic Dream
I lost my pants in this dream. Classic, right?
I’d arrived at a new job working in a huge complex. No one seemed to be expecting me. Walking around in a dark blue suit, I was trying to get oriented. Others were about – none who I knew – so I stopped some and asked questions. All spoke with me and were friendly but none could help me.
Noticing something spilled on my suit pants, I sat down and took them off to dry. It was a large open area with sunshine and seats, like a airport waiting area, and no one was around, so I was comfortable doing that. Too comfortable, I guess, because I decided to wander and look around, killing time. An influx of people drove me back to put my pants on.
My pants were gone.
I hurried around, trying to find them, thinking that I must have misremembered where I left them. But no, I was right about where it was, and they were gone. And my keys were in my pocket. Damn it. Well, from somewhere, I came up with another pair of pants. These were brown tweed, didn’t fit me, and didn’t match my coat. But I was less conspicuous than running around in my boxers, right?
The rest of the dream was about me trying to figure out where I was and where I was supposed to go, asking people along the way. No one could help me. I resolved to do it myself but never did find where I was to be.
Sunday’s Theme Music
This is it. The countdown has commenced. Next Sunday, March 14, 2021, the giant lever will be pulled, sending the US into Daylight Savings Time. If you’re paying attention, that means today is Sunday, March 7, 2021. Yes, today is the last Sunday that we’ll be able to enjoy normal daylight for several months, as we go into daylight pinching mode.
Other aspects of the day includes 6:37 AM Solclimb and a 6:08 PM Soldrop in Ashland, a forty degree F temperature which feels warmer than it sounds when you’re standing in it, and a wintry blend of thundering gray, spring blue, and feathered white sky.
Returning to the DST thinking for a moment, DST drives a lot of political discourse and political polarization in the U.S., IMO. I think that one time when they pulled the lever back to change time, they pulled it too hard and fast. Suddenly, we’d leaped decades into the past. Although they caught the issue before dawn, damage had been inflicted. People felt like it was back in the 1950s in the U.S. because it temporarily was. Confusion was stirred when the current time was resumed. I think this episode happened about five years ago. I don’t have any evidence, but now it’s on the net, so it must be true.
Today’s music is by Chicago. “Old Days” was released in 1975, and it’s about remembering the good old days. Of course, it’s a gentle reverie for them:
Old days Good times I remember Fun days Filled with ship of pleasure Drive-in movies Comic books and blue jeans Howdy Doody Baseball cards and birthdays Take me back To the world gone away Memories Seem like yesterday Oh, old days Good times I remember Gold days Days I'll always treasure Funny faces Full of love and laughter Funny places Summer nights and streetcars Take me back To the world gone away Our good memories Seem like yesterday Old days h/t to Lyrics.com
The song always strikes me as smooth jazz, pop-rock, brass-infused blend, but the lyrics are easy to recall. Stay positive, test negative, wear a mask, and get a vax. Have a good one. Cheers
