Habflooftual

Habflooftual (floofinition) – customary or regularly practiced manner for interacting with housepets or animals.

In use: “Seeing a dog kicked his habflooftual responses in, and he’d immediately drop down to his knees to say hello, and if the dog was willing, and it was permitted, to give the dog a few ear skritches.”

One-upsfloofship

One-upsfloofship (floofinition) – a housepet’s practice of outdoing or keeping one jump ahead of people or other floofs.

In use: “In classic one-upsfloofship, Tiny the St. Bernard took Jumbo the tabby’s favorite sleeping location. A floof too savvy to be outdone, Jumbo settled himself on Tiny’s head and groomed himself.”

Sunday’s Theme Music

I have another confession to make: I sing to my cats. They all enjoy it. That’s what I take from their purring. Maybe they don’t like it, but believe that I’ll stop singing if they start purring.

Level 42’s “Something About You” (1985) is part of my offerings. Some lyrics fit tight.

Now, how can it be
That a love carved out of caring
Fashioned by fate could suffer so hard
From the games played once too often
But making mistakes is a part of life’s imperfection
Born of the years
Is it so wrong to be human after all?

It’s human to care about animals, to love them, to discover their personalities and flaws, and rescue them. Sometimes taking them on goes against the wisdom given to you, and sometimes force inconveniences on your life, but in the end, they frequently give so much, they’re a mistake worth making.

Floofaby

Floofaby (floofinition) – a song sung to housepets, typically when a loving session takes place.

In use: “When petting his cats, he would often sing a floofaby and scratch their ears, reveling in their purrs and soft fur as they curled up against him and went to sleep.”

Floofjinks

Floofjinks (floofinition) – boisterous or rambunctious carryings-on by housepets.

In use: “Nothing like the red dot laser point to start floofjinks among the cats. Once they were started, even the dogs got into the floofjinks.”

Savory Oatmeal

After reading about savory muffins this week, I thought I’d do something similar with my morning oatmeal.

Fruit, cinnamon, nuts, and coconut usually finds its way into my oat meal. Today, nutritional yeast, shredded Mexican cheese mix, sliced Kalamata olives, and diced onions and green peppers were tossed into the oatmeal.

Sensational. I imagine sauteed or grilled mushrooms, onions, and peppers would also work well. Looking forward to trying some new ideas. It puts a whole new spin on breakfast.

Saturday’s Theme Music

Sometimes I feel like I’m Goldilocks, judging and assessing things for which one is just right. Yesterday was the first day of summer in Ashlandia. We had beautiful weather, if it’d been the first day of autumn. As summer weather goes, it was windy with a chilly breeze. Walking through it, I thought, seventy-one degrees is too cold for summer. It’s also a drop-off from our legit eighty-three degree average for this time of year. That would have been just right.

But, thinking about, talking to meself about summer, I thought, this is too cold. “She’s So Cold” by the Rolling Stones (1980) rushed into the stream. Good bopping walkin’ song. I did shuffle lyrics a little to, “She’s too cold.”

I like this video. They seem to be having fun.
